Tutti devono leggerlo!
Revisado: 01-18-25
Basta auto-denigrazione.
Grazie Occidente!

Have you heard that language is violence and that science is sexist? Have you read that certain people shouldn't practice yoga? Or been told that being obese is healthy, that there is no such thing as biological sex, or that only White people can be racist? Are you confused by these ideas, and do you wonder how they have managed to challenge the logic of Western society? In this probing volume, Helen Pluckrose and James Lindsay document the evolution of the dogma that informs these ideas, from its coarse origins in French postmodernism to its refinement within activist academic fields.

Very good to understand the how, notbso much on the why
Revisado: 10-19-24
very good job of describing the theoretical gibberish blurted out by woke people everytime they open their mounths. All that dumb nonsense didn't appear out of nothing, was not invented by the very recent woke movement. Ithas instead a 70 year long history. it is an old theory, postmodernism, reworked and make into a workable world vision by countless theoreticians.
That is good to know. That helps to deconstract their deconstructing arguments.
What the authors don't do is to explain the why of thins. Why clever people are ready to develop and embracr such creazy theories? Why a large movement, that is so large that it can not all be comprised of people so well versed in postmodern theory or even care for it or for any kind of philosophical theory, have embraced such an obscured and nonsensical theory?
I think they were right to attempt an explanation of the why. It involves a lot of guess work of other people real intentions. Because the truth is, all this shouting of theoretical dogma is just a tool. They use it because it works. But the real aims are left unsaid.
So, they refrain from any guess work and kept a rigorous, scientific approach. Taking woke people statements at face value. As if they truly believed it.
Luckily we reader are not under such constraints. We can venture. And so I will.
Wokisim, as any activism, is driven by emotions. And as most activism, it is driiven by rage. Rage for injustices, rage caused by envy in many cases. To this wokism adds a sentiment of vengance. No reparation will never be enough. Reparation works on the victim. Vengeance works on the perpetrator that must be made suffere the same, or sjmilar, of what the victim suffered. So, because the perpetrators, the white people mostly, are not suffering and don't seem likely to do so in the near future or want to do so soon enough, they coalesce in this movement behind this nonsensical theory that, for reason I am sure they don't understand, seems to cause bother and seems to be able to unite a lot of people behind it.
So, any suggestions on how to debunk this postmodernism stance is welcome but I am afraid that even when completely defeated, thew woke movement will unite behind other silly slogan taken from somewhere else.
we will see.

Historia
First published in response to John Rawls' A Theory of Justice, Robert Nozick's Anarchy, State, and Utopia has since become one of the defining texts in classic libertarian thought. Challenging and ultimately rejecting liberal, socialist, and conservative agendas, Nozick boldly asserts that the rights of individuals are violated as a state's responsibilities increase—and the only way to avoid these violations rests in the creation of a minimalist state limited to protection against force, fraud, theft, and the enforcement of contracts.

Game theory is the study of strategic decision-making in politics, sports, diplomacy, and a host of other areas, but especially in economics, where game theory flourishes. Historia
How did communism become such a pervasive economic and political philosophy? Why did it first take root in early 20th-century Russia? These and other questions are part of a fascinating story whose drama has few equals in terms of sheer scale, scope, or human suffering and belief. These 12 lectures invite you to go inside communism’s journey from a collection of political and economic theories to a revolutionary movement that rocked the world.

Excellent
Revisado: 11-19-23
good account of the years from Marx up Lenin.
I can not say if the author is a sympathiser or an antagonist of their ideas and that is a prise to his balance.
for my part I can only say this: Marx, Lenin, Luxembourg, were just some nutcases.
they were very clever in a way, able to understand complex theoretical ideas but very stupid with regaard to simple practical facts. they understood nothing of human nature. they thought they knew society well enough to re-build it from scratch. they thought that when reality does not follow theory, reality is wrong. they were arrogant. to the point that thay thought they could take someone's life because they dared to oppose their ideas.
and yes, as suggested at various points in the audiobook, communism is just another religion. there is no science, no theoretical truth. just irrationality and emotiviity.

not a self-help giuude
Revisado: 11-11-23
contrary to the statement in the opening of the book, there are no practical instructions for anything. you will not learn meditation with this book.
I can not help to perceive talk on midlndfullness as a mount of manbo jumbo. This book is no different. A lot of non-sensical talk in this book. it must be me.
there are some scientific parts, but they are confused and couldn't get much out of it. plus, the scientific approach might be a liability. he approaches meditation through Buddhism, which is a religion and trying to merge religion and science is always problematic, to say the least.
the author looks like writing to a target of a minimum number of pages. for marketing reasons, i suppose. the usual anecdotes at the start of every chapter. problem is that they are not very good. sound like filling. also, some "addictions" sound like filling. addiction to "thinking'", to "love".
overall, bad.
