Well done
Revisado: 09-30-24
Interesting series that brings in the everyday world we know combined with witches, wizards, and more. The story was well done, the narration was also good. It seemed a little… almost rushed. But was still good. And the ending was… really good. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Historia
Not every danger comes in the form of a mega-threat like a Titan. Some predators are a lot cozier...more personal. When one such creature threatens an independent tutor, Harry Dresden must shake off the blood and dirt of his most recent battles and rise to the occasion, even when it turns out that the new predator is far more dangerous and connected than first appearances would suggest.

Great short story
Revisado: 09-09-24
I rarely review these, but thoroughly enjoyed this short story. Hearing the voice of the series’ creator added a level of depth and enjoyment to the book as well; like it was actually Harry Dresden speaking. My only complaint is how short it was. All of this authors works are awesome

Historia
Bullying and abuse are at the source of much misery in our lives. Because we are not taught about our brains, let alone how much they are impacted by bullying and abuse, we do not have a way to avoid this misery, heal our scars, or restore our health. In The Bullied Brain, listeners learn about the evidence doctors, psychiatrists, neuropsychologists and neuroscientists have gathered, that shows the harm done by bullying and abuse to your brain, and how you can be empowered to protect yourself and all others.

Good. But not what I was hoping for
Revisado: 02-08-23
All in all, this is a great self-help book with some good points. I grabbed it after hearing the author on a podcast, was excited to hear what she had to say about brains. But it took too long to explain how to help one’s brain; which I will try as soon as I can remember. Then it gave some relatively basic ideas on how to fix society as a whole. Which are things that need to happen anyway. I sympathize with where the author is coming from, and agree society needs to change. And to be fair, we all want a book that will give us step by step instructions on how to solve the problems of society, but ultimately we all have a fatal flaw in our ability to do so: time and support. Few people’s schedules line up, long enough to actually make the powers that be, because we voted them there, actually do their jobs and fix things. There is potential here. But this is not a blueprint, just a step in the blueprint

Fantastic and emotional read
Revisado: 05-20-22
I remember seeing something about this book when it first came out, but didn’t think much of it, heard the author’s interview on a podcast and picked downloaded it the same day. I did not realize the complexity of this situation in regards to the military’s attempts to pass the blame. I never believed the “rogue team” line circulating for a while for reasons stated in the book, and that’s without my personally knowing any of the individuals. This story is heart wrenching, it is sad, it makes you hold your spouse and kids a little longer each time you leave them. I am truly saddened for the loss of these 4 warriors, and the pain their families have had to endure for America. We as a Nation owe it to these fallen four, and the countless fallen from our inception to be better. We must learn from their sacrifice, or we will be doomed to repeat it in the future.

Truly amazing
Revisado: 02-19-21
I have always loved the Dresden files, and was super excited when I heard this was being released in 2020. Even preordered it. Words cannot truly express my emotions following the end of this book. I think the best way to sum it up is, it was real. I have rarely seen the raw, and real life understanding of what a character is going through. But the author did a marvelous job of making Dresden’s emotions and struggles actually real.
