Historia
As Adolf Hitler and the Nazis seduced a nation, bullied a continent, and attempted to exterminate the Jews of Europe, a small number of dissidents and saboteurs worked to dismantle the Third Reich from the inside. One of these was Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a pastor and author. In this New York Times bestselling biography, Eric Metaxas takes both strands of Bonhoeffer's life—the theologian and the spy—and draws them together to tell a searing story of incredible moral courage in the face of monstrous evil.

Historia
In Reasons to Believe, Scott Hahn, a convert to Catholicism, explains the "how and why" of the Catholic faith - drawing from Scripture, his own struggles, and those of other converts, as well as from everyday life and even natural science. Hahn shows that reason and revelation, as well as nature and the supernatural, are not opposed to one another; rather, they offer complementary evidence that God exists. He is someone, and He has a personality, a personal style, that is discernable and knowable.

Well explained and informative
Revisado: 12-09-22
I appreciate the first portion of the book, focusing on logical reasons to believe in God for discussions and answers to questions from thoughtful atheists and agnostics. I also loved the depth in responding to Protestant brothers and sisters questions in the remaining portion of the book. I continue to learn much and I’m thankful for those who know even more and write books like this.

Historia
At the End of the Santa Fe Trail is a book by Sister Blandina Segale about her fascinating experiences as a young Catholic nun in the southwestern United States from 1872 to 1892. At a time when lawlessness and brutality were the norm, Sister Blandina displayed courage, tough-mindedness, and a deep religious faith in service to the less fortunate. Sister Blandina's well-written account tells of working with immigrants, Hispanics, and Native Americans who were losing their land to swindlers.

Surprised to learn she met with Billy the Kid
Revisado: 09-28-22
I knew nothing of Sister Blandina when I downloaded this book but wanted to learn about an aspect of history I didn’t know much about. I loved that this book is comprised of her diary entries while communicating with her sister over a couple of decades. The language is beautiful; the narrator is very talented; and the challenges Sr. Blandina faced with steady faith is inspiring.

Historia
Many horse trainers, even those who espouse the so-called natural horsemanship approach, take the position that horses who fail to obey a human's request are doing so as much out of perversity as ignorance. That's not Mark Rashid's view. In his words, "If we understand that horses can't separate the way they feel from the way they act, then we can start to see that unwanted behavior isn't bad behavior at all. More times than not, it's just the horse expressing the way he feels at that particular moment in time....

Surprised how much I enjoyed this
Revisado: 09-07-22
Listening to this reminded me of conversations I overheard adult family members sharing when I was kid as they sat around the kitchen table or campfires on vacations catching up with one another. I find I have a growing heart for horses.

Appreciate the way this book helped me understand myself and taught ways to work with my brain’s preferences for organizing instead of feeling like I’m failing for not doing it “perfectly”. Thank you!

This book is beautiful application of one’s gift to “do something”
Revisado: 01-27-22
Moving dramatization of the contrasting horrors and beauties that reside within the human spirit, reminding us that we have a choice in who we become.
I found myself equally enthused to tell people about the gifted narrator as the author and her story. Wonderfully told! Thank you!
