Should be titled a Christians Worldview of other Worldviews

I was hoping to learn other worldviews to increase my compassion toward others and become a peacemaker. This book basically describes other worldviews from Christianity as strawmen for the author to tear down.

I feel like this book was just a stream of thoughts. Constantly leaving loose ends where I thought that things would tie back together at the end, but no. Furthermore, this is one of those cliffhanger ends to try and make people buy the next book. I have no faith that any of the loose ends will be wrapped up in a satisfying way.

Furthermore, the protagonist is insufferable. An atheist who just happens to be the most moral person on the planet and is so smart that he’s always 2 steps ahead of everyone else, even in the world of politics without any explanation for his extreme skills or moral compass, I dare say we’ve crossed into the world of fantasy and we haven’t even talked about the monsters.

The only good thing I can say about this book is I liked the premise, a guy from our world gets sucked into a world of magic and monsters and he has a video game GUI. That’s a fun idea.

Unfortunately, I feel this book was written for 14 year old boys who are angry that their parents make them go to church,

An OK book for kids just graduating college

This book is written for college kids, hard stop. If you are over the age of 30, this book isn't for you. The majority of the book is dedicated to house hacking, which is renting rooms to a house you own, and then wash-rinse-repeat with additional properties either by stair-stepping up the property ladder, or buying investment properties. That's not a horrible strategy in and of itself, but where I get frustrated is that this book was obviously written by someone who has never experienced a down market in real-estate. There is ZERO discussion regarding the risk involved that comes with taking on mortgages and renters. I have a family member who got stuck with the perfect storm of bad renters and the 2008 housing market collapse and ended up losing his properties and destroying his credit so he just now (14 years later) is able to qualify for a home loan again.

While the author gave good advice regarding how hard it is to pick individual stocks against professional investors, the SAME EXACT ARGUMENT COULD BE MADE FOR REAL-ESTATE INVESTING. When you look to purchase real estate, you are in the same market as seasoned veterans who have been dedicating their lives to finding good deals and jumping on them. That's who you're going up against, but what makes it even scarier, is if you pick a bad stock and you lose 20%, you've lost 20%. But, If you leverage yourself on a property and it turns out to be a bad bet, that 20% loss can actually be a 200% loss because the power of leverage cuts both ways. Again, crickets from the author regarding these risks.

The other areas of the book were also hit or miss. How to make more from your job? Quit and take a job on commission with a start-up...uh, again, I'm getting a lot of survivorship bias on this one, I have seen so many start-ups go under, if picking which startups were going to be winners were easy, then venture capital firms would have way higher success rates (I've seen estimates that only 10-20% of VC firm investments bring meaningful returns, and again, these firms are going to be a lot better at identifying who these winning companies are than you and I, so maybe we have a 5-10% chance of getting lucky, not a strategy I would recommend). I did like the focus on reducing your home and transportation costs, I've thought the same thing for a while, though I would never recommend putting your kids in a bad school district to save money the way the author does, again, I get the feeling that he doesn't have kids, or he doesn't understand the risks of a bad education and how influential a child's surroundings are to the outcome of their life.

This is a bot reading the book. It makes it virtually impossible to listen to. For instance, there's lot's of quotes, where the bot reads the quote and then the person's name who said the quote with no pause or explanation, instead, it just sounds like a stream of random words. The fact that this book has such high ratings is an eye opener on just how meaningless reviews have become.
