Probably Better in Print/ebook Format
Revisado: 03-23-25
I enjoyed this book but I was much more invested in the current storyline than the excerpts between chapters. They took me out of the story a bit and made the audiobook harder to get through. I think they would work better on a page than in audio format. I do recommend this book but if you're on the fence about audio or print/ebook, I would go with the latter.

In an age of magic and myth, King Emrys reigns supreme in Camelot alongside his noble brother, Uther, having defeated the Saxon invaders. But peace is a fragile thing. The bard Taliesin mastered many of the secrets of magic while still only a youth, and he knows the language as old as the earth. How he mastered this is a mystery, even to himself. But he will soon discover his mysterious past. It is a tale of love and death, good and evil, sword and sorcery! An epic for the ages!

Nice Fast-Paced Book
Revisado: 12-02-24
This was fast paced and enjoyable! The characters were likeable. It helped that I was already familiar with a few of them from Arthurian Legend and the Pendragon Cycle by Stephen Lawhead. Some parts felt rushed and I wished it was more fleshed out. It could have lingered on scenes longer, however I didn't mind that much because being too streamlined is preferable to having filler content--an issue a lot of other books have. I'll definitely be looking forward to more of Ian Wilson's work in the future.

The company of the Ring is torn asunder. Frodo and Sam continue their journey alone down the great River Anduin - alone, that is, save for the mysterious creeping figure that follows wherever they go. This continues the classic tale begun in The Fellowship of the Ring, which reaches its awesome climax in The Return of the King.

I have seen some bad AI-generated images on Audible, but this might be the worst and the laziest. It's an insult to George MacDonald.

Historia
Now more than ever it’s easy to focus on the divisions that plague our nation. It may seem as if our best days are behind us, but bestselling author and senator Tim Scott believes we have yet to realize the fullness of our identity. We are in the midst of a story that’s still unfolding. And beautiful opportunities await. In this powerful memoir, Scott recounts formative events of his life alongside the inspiring stories of other Americans who have risen above hardship and embodied the values that make our nation great.

What a great exposition
Revisado: 06-30-23
Having grown up in a military family only a few years ahead of Tim Scott, part of my years in the deep south, I found a lot of this book highly relatable.
I love his story and his vision. I hope I get a chance to vote for him.

Historia
Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner first crossed paths as actors on the set of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Little did they know that their next roles, in a new science-fiction television series, would shape their lives in ways no one could have anticipated. In 79 television episodes of Star Trek and six feature films, they grew to know each other more than most friends could ever imagine. Over the course of half a century, Shatner and Nimoy saw each other through personal and professional highs and lows.

A wonderful ride
Revisado: 06-27-23
An endless stream of insights I find delightful. A deep journey into the many aspects of the lives of Nimoy and Shatner and their long friendship.
Nimoy is ... fascinating ... and Shatner is a remarkably gifted storyteller and a great, enjoyable narrator.
Listening is a touching and moving experience, and I was sad to reach the end.

Great characters, great storytelling, good story
Revisado: 06-27-23
A lengthy book in a very long series, but with the characters and storytelling I was happy to sit through the long ride.
Having multiple friends who have PTSD and are trauma survivors, I deeply appreciate the author's inclusion of this subject.

Good finale to the Saga
Revisado: 02-21-23
Some really great writing, some good, a little bit of "needs improvement." Overall, it is a satisfying end to the series, with the flavor of real life: redemption and victories come with costs.
Having helped some authors in the writing/publishing process, I would say this book, like the others in the series, is 2 to 4 re-write/edit cycles from being truly great.

Too long, and I love it
Revisado: 11-17-22
This book takes too long to make points, and repeats them too many times. And I loved every moment of it! A gripping and sweeping autobiography, and the author was only 35 when she wrote it. An incredibly hard and incredibly accomplished life. Tissue warning - there are a few parts that will rip your heart out, if you have one.

Historia
In The Righteous Mind, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt explores the origins of our divisions and points the way forward to mutual understanding. His starting point is moral intuition - the nearly instantaneous perceptions we all have about other people and the things they do. These intuitions feel like self-evident truths, making us righteously certain that those who see things differently are wrong. Haidt shows us how these intuitions differ across cultures, including the cultures of the political left and right.

Super helpful and deep dive into motivations
Revisado: 09-27-22
Many statements of the author will raise your ire, as he outlines the benefits and some limitations of liberal, conservative, and libertarian viewpoints. You will probably either love or hate him frequently referring to Darwin and evolution, but stick with it because the payoff in insight is far more than worth being a bit offended here and there.
