Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

I love this story
Revisado: 12-10-23
Spoiler alert
I have never read a fantasy novel before much less listened to one. I almost never review books because many of the books I listen to or read are more cookie cutter sapphic romances in the tradition of Hallmark Channel movies.
So for me to even buy the book, much less the audiobook, and listen to /read it is in and of itself highly unusual. But I am so happy that I did. The character development was accomplished in such a way as to be almost perfect. I especially love how the characteristics of each of the characters are unfolded at a good pace. I found each of them to be very interesting and believable. The story itself was beautiful and well paced.
My favorite parts are the action sequences and the very end that has both a happy ending, the victory over the Venin and Wyvern, and the subsequent suspenseful ending that sets up the next book (which I have in print and will soon read/listen to in audiobook format.) I can’t wait to see how the relationship between Xaden and Violet unfolds.

Amazing! It drew me in from the beginning!
Revisado: 09-23-23
I rarely write reviews for books no matter how much I enjoy them. But this book was different. It wasn’t just narrated by a talented voiceover artist. It was superbly acted out by some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry. The fact that there was a sapphic angle made it all the more remarkable. It was the icing on the cake, as the saying goes.
I cannot say enough good things about this book, nor can I recommend it highly enough. As for the sapphic story line; no sex; just complicated relationships.

Historia
Stella's mama never should've put Stella on the church prayer list. With Stella's 27th birthday coming up fast, Nancy desperately wants to see her daughter married and giving her grandbabies. Petitioning heaven seems like a surefire way to get it done. But in Cadillac, Texas, where the gossip's hotter than the city's famous jalapeño peppers, it isn't long before all hell breaks loose.

A lot of technical issues
Revisado: 09-03-23
The story was good but not great. I do disagree with those who say that the cursing of several of the characters or the uppityness of characters like Heather and Violet are not typical of church ladies in the Deep South. In my 58 years in the Southern Evangelical Church I knew many people like them who claimed to be followers of Christ in one breath and in the next they are gossiping and doing all the same things that these characters do.
As the title suggests there are many technical problems with the production of the audio book. The worst of them is that at the beginning of every chapter and sub chapter the sound drops out, often to almost nothing, before fading back in to normal volume. This rapidly becomes irritating, It occurs throughout the entire book.
The narrater is okay but not great. It is often difficult to tell who is doing the speaking because her individual voices are so similar.
I did enjoy the story and the frequent cursing didn’t bother me one iota. I thought it was very authentic to the way I have heard people, including church people, speak and connive and plot down here.
Overall I enjoyed the book but I think that there are many technical issues that need to corrected before re-releasing the book. Three stars is the best I can give this book right now. Fix the problems and increase the overall rating by one to one-and-a-half stars.

Revisado: 05-28-23
JJ Arias is one of my favorite writers. I got hooked when I read the Goode Girl series, especially Goode Girls Steal. Fab and Cam are two of my favorite characters of late. I’ve got to get more of JJ’s books in audio. That way I can devour them more often while working.

This is my first BDSM fiction
Revisado: 02-28-23
So it took me some getting used to, but once I did I really enjoyed the stories and characters that made them up. I’ve always fantasized about giving into my deepest BDSM desires but never met anyone that I trusted enough to take the plunge. These stories gave me the ability to live vicariously through them, and the brought all those desires back to the surface. Great stories and a wonderful narrator!!!

Historia
Blaze Sonnier has had a bad year. In the spring, she made national news while dressed as the Easter Bunny in a brawl where she was trying to defend herself, and earned the moniker Bitch Slap Bunny. In the fall, the mother who abandoned Blaze for an acting career showed up on her doorstep, not only injured from an accident but broke and in need of a place to stay. While on a bike ride to purge her stress Blaze encounters one small (in physical stature only) silver lining with a flat tire.

Good book but not impressed with narration
Revisado: 07-14-21
The book itself is highly erotic compared to what I normally listen to. This is a short story but Paris Rivera packs it with juicy details. I can’t wait to hear more of her books.
The narrator was okay but not that great. Her soft voice made it difficult for me to concentrate the story because I was trying to focus on her voice so as not to miss anything. Still she was not even close to the worst narrators I have heard.

Great story but mediocre narration
Revisado: 05-08-21
I absolutely loved this story just as I have with everything that of Jae’s that I have read or listened to.
The narration was difficult for me however. Grace’s mother was cartoonish and totally over the top so as a to be annoying to listen to. When Grace and Lauren are talking to each other their voices are almost completely indistinguishable from each other making conversations hard to follow.
The story is a very slow burn romance that leaves the reader wanting to know more about the MCs beyond the end of the book. I want another story featuring Grace Grace and Lauren to see how their lives and careers turn out after the big reveal in the epilogue.

Ticks all my boxes
Revisado: 05-01-21
Started and Finished Hotel Queens by Lee Winter. This is now officially one of my top 3 favorite audiobooks behind And Playing the Role of Herself and At the Water’s Edge.
I totally love the chemistry between Amelia and Kaye, and am a total fan of the karma that came to Amelia’s family because of the way they treated her. And watching homophobes eat crow is always satisfying.
Really there’s nothing bad that I can say about this book. It ticked all of my boxes for what makes a great lesbian romance novel. It had interesting, well developed characters, hot chemistry between the MCs, and so much more. I am really at a loss for words to describe just how great I think this audiobook is.
It doesn’t hurt, either, that it was performed by the totally amazing Angela Daw. I have listened to several books performed by her, and she always makes the listening experience indescribably enjoyable.
Bravo!!! This will by no means be my last Lee Winter book, and if you can get Angela to narrate future books then that will be icing on the cake!!!
