Overall very good book, but not perfect.
Revisado: 05-04-23
As a doctor the author stakes out positions that more testing is better, in general. Downplays the downsides of false positives. The book is chock full of good science, advice, and thoughts. Not sure why he threw in the mental health part at the end, but to each their own. Would read again.

Historia
When it comes to climate change, the media, politicians, and other prominent voices have declared that "the science is settled." In reality, the long game of telephone from research to reports to the popular media is corrupted by misunderstanding and misinformation. Core questions - about the way the climate is responding to our influence, and what the impacts will be - remain largely unanswered. The climate is changing, but the why and how aren't as clear as you've probably been led to believe.

Historia
In The War on the West, Douglas Murray shows how many well-meaning people have been fooled by hypocritical and inconsistent anti-West rhetoric. After all, if we must discard the ideas of Kant, Hume, and Mill for their opinions on race, shouldn’t we discard Marx, whose work is peppered with racial slurs and anti-Semitism? Embers of racism remain to be stamped out in America, but what about the raging racist inferno in the Middle East and Asia?

Revisado: 03-22-23
We had better wake up to what made this world a better place. Revisionist history and woke ideologies are bringing us to the brink of disaster. A refreshing and well-documented review of the slow erosion of western values and commerce.

For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

this is a fantastic book. What David Goggins has overcome in his life is inspirational and should make any of us stop and think. The first three chapters and last two are amazing. The middle of the book drags a little. Worth the purchase in any event.

If you really want to lose weight, this is pretty much the bible. Beyond being a perfectly sensible and well-researched book, the things you must do to maintain your weight and lose weight are pretty damned simple and easy. Your metabolism IS a problem. You CAN fix it. This is the one book you need if weight is your issue. Dozens of other good books, but this is the central one, once and for all. “AUDIBLE 20 REVIEW SWEEPSTAKES ENTRY”

In this fresh and provocative new audiobook, Mary Katharine Ham and Guy Benson, dynamic Fox News and Townhall Media duo, expose how the Left exploits fake outrage to silence their political opponents - in public, on social media, at work, and even in their own homes. End of Discussion encourages all Americans who value the open exchange of ideas to fight back against this strategic effort to make America less free, less feisty, and less fun.

Any additional comments?
The authors do a very good job of outlining the way in which the extreme left vilify their opponents, even stooping to destroy individual citizens that do not follow political correctness. A very sad story of how things are today. Thankfully, folks like the authors are striking back by exposing the truth to the lies. Thank you.

Breathtaking evil. Eye opening!
Revisado: 10-19-15
What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?
The absolute corruption of the Russian geopolitical machine, and the very sickening depths to which Vladimir Putin would go to enrich himself.
Any additional comments?
If you have any interest in geopolitical happenings involving Russia, this is a must read. It is gripping. The first 25 percent of the book is dry, but important background. After this, it takes off and I found myself having a hard time "putting it down". I was horrified by the lengths to which the Russian ruling class will pursue and destroy those who threaten them in any way. Very disgusting. These are truly awful people, and this will open your eyes to Vladimir Putin and his inner circle and their unconscionable ways. This is a great book, and a very sad tale.

Historia
Life-long liberal Kirsten Powers blasts the Left's forced march towards conformity in an exposé of the illiberal war on free speech. No longer champions of tolerance and free speech, the "illiberal Left" now viciously attacks and silences anyone with alternative points of view. Powers asks, "Whatever happened to free speech in America?"

A surprisingly exceptional piece of work.
Revisado: 07-17-15
If you could sum up The Silencing in three words, what would they be?
Gutsy. Truth. Surprise.
What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?
Ms. Powers is brutally honest about the silencing by the "illiberal left" of their opponents. She doesn't pull too many punches, and doesn't give the right wing a pass either.
Any additional comments?
I have to count this among one of the best political-oriented books I've ever read. It is very well researched and the author brings a very high level of credibility to the subject. I am most impressed by the author's courage and authenticity and absolutely shocked by the material she presents. This comes from the perspective of the classic liberal, sharing a good number of principles with the libertarian, and she does a very good job of exposing the hypocrisy and outright fraud of the "illiberal left". I am so blown away by this book, I will now be following Ms. Powers on twitter to see what else she has to say.
This is an easy book to recommend for anyone who would like to be a bit more informed about the value of the first amendment and the duplicity of those who would rip out its heart at the feet of their ideological idols. Bravo Kirsten Powers! Will be looking for the next book by this author.

Until five years ago, Alexandra Heminsley was decidedly not a runner. Nor was she athletic in any sense of the word. She was an ordinary, curvy woman who was convinced that sports of any kind, especially running, were beyond her. But she's made running part of her life, and gets to reap the rewards: not just the obvious things, like a touch of weight loss, health and glowing skin, but self-belief, and immeasurable daily pleasure.

A highly decorated captain in the U.S. Army, Luis Montalvan never backed down from a challenge during his two tours of duty in Iraq. After returning home, however, the pressures of his physical wounds, traumatic brain injury, and post-traumatic stress disorder began to take their toll. In constant physical pain, he soon found himself unable to climb a simple flight of stairs or face a bus ride to the VA hospital. He drank; he argued; he cut himself off from those he loved. Then Luis met Tuesday, a beautiful and sensitive golden retriever....
