I don’t understand why there is so much negativity about the narrator, I enjoyed her style.

Please re-record this!!!
Revisado: 06-27-24
I am writing this review mid-story. The story seems like a good story, but the narration is just bad. I have to re-listen to chapters because I think I am subconsciously blocking her voice. I am going to continue to listen, but it is very, very, very difficult. I even slowed it down to try and help make it more tolerable. It helps a little bit, but it is still difficult. The male voice is cringy and everyone in every character sounds angry and snarky. AI would be a vast improvement.

This was Awesome
Revisado: 04-23-24
This was one of the most twisted books I’ve heard to date. It’s hard to find books this intriguingly disturbing. The narrator was phenomenal. Gave life to each character.

It was a decent listen
Revisado: 12-11-23
The story is pretty good, the narrator is easy to listen to, but I truly detested main characters’s mom. She was way over the top! She was my least favorite part of the story and I almost stopped listening because of it.

Revisado: 07-12-23
I am enjoying the story lines of the books in the series, but Lou’s constant self-blame and insecurity drives me crazy. That said, I am anxiously awaiting the release of the next book.

Still Happy
Revisado: 05-13-23
I Love this series and am Beyond elated that Taylorson is back. I felt a deep sense of loss when he was gone. The characters became strangers and very weird with the other performers. Now that he has returned, Gail is back to irritating my very soul and I couldn’t be happier. I am so glad that relationship ended! Joe deserved much better. Now if only Taylorson could go back and redo the few he didn’t perform. I’d listen to them again. I feel like I missed so much of the other stories because I was so distracted by the narration.

Historia
Investigative journalist Laura Chambers is back in her tiny hometown of Hillsborough, North Carolina, the one place she swore never to return. Fired from The Boston Globe, her career in shambles, she reluctantly takes a job with the local paper. The work is simple, unimportant, and worst of all, boring - at least until a missing girl turns up dead, the body impeccably clean, dressed to be the picture of innocence. Years earlier, 10-year-old Patty Finch left home and never made it back. But for the people of Hillsborough, Patty was just the beginning.

Historia
Every object has a ghost. There is a small yellow backpack - half unzipped, mouth yawning to the pavement, contents strewn around it (a banana, an exercise book, a pair of scissors) - abandoned on a suburban footpath. Ten feet away, the rubber stamp of tyres, resisting clamped brakes, mount the curb and cut across the path. The tracks come to an end at a crippled stop sign. The street, a tree-lined suburban road dappled in late-afternoon sunlight, is calm. But anyone walking past can feel the ghosts: the prickle on the back of their necks that tells them something happened here.

That Voice :-(
Revisado: 06-17-21
I am trying really hard to listen, but the narration is weird and creepy. The cadence is odd and like one hugely, enormously long run on sentence...
So I was able to finish the book. The narration never really got any better and the background noise was a bit distracting, but I really did like the story. I gave the story an additional star.
