Martin Keown played at the highest level over three revolutionary decades - the 80s, 90s and 00s - which saw the birth of the Premier League and the advent of millionaire superstar footballers. He was a key man in one of the finest sides of all time - Arsène Wenger's Arsenal. So why has he always felt like a man battling on the edge? On the Edge is the story of one of football's all-time great characters – a man whose commitment and survival put him at the heart of the pitch, a place he dominated like almost no other footballer of his generation.

At times heartwarming and mostly inspiring story of an Arsenal Invincible
Revisado: 01-17-25
As an Arsenal fan since 1996, there was no way I wasn't going to give this a listen after finding out about it on AFTV. I always value when aduiobooks are narrated by their authors because there is an added authenticity that it naturally brings to the stories. The interview audio with Arsene and Tony Adams are the cherry on top and gives a sneak peek into what some of the club's heroes went through during the early days when perhaps there wasn't as much transparency in football. I learned so much from this book and was hit with wave after wave of nostalgia, especially when some names I hadn't heard in a long time were mentioned. A truly inspiring story for fans of the Three Lions and The Arsenal alike.

Olumide and Salmon deliver a masterclass in achieving financial freedom
Revisado: 02-23-24
"Firedom" is not just another book about financial independence; it's a journey. This audiobook strikes a perfect tonal balance, weaving seriousness with levity in such a manner that keeps you engaged, informed, and entertained throughout. Olumide and Samon have done a commendable job in creating a guide that's both prescriptive and illustrative, ensuring that listeners can easily translate advice into action.
The book’s cover design aesthetic perfectly encapsulates the essence of "Firedom." In symbolizing the journey from financial constraint to freedom. It piques curiosity at first glance, promising a wealth of knowledge within.
What sets "Firedom" apart from other FI books are the tangible examples peppered throughout the narrative. The authors don't shy away from sharing specific dollar values, making the advice not only practical but also relatable. This approach demystifies the often-opaque world of personal finance, making the dream of financial independence seem within reach.
Both authors do a great job of reframing their experiences and advice in ways that are more broadly applicable and accessible than just in their own special circumstances. Samon’s deep dives into counter-arguments provide a robust defense against potential naysayers, enriching the discourse around financial independence. This dynamic adds depth to the narrative, ensuring that the audiobook addresses and quells common doubts and concerns.
Perhaps the most impactful aspect of "Firedom" is its views on FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) culture that is woven throughout the book. The book contrasts the allure of instant gratification with the virtues of delayed gratification, presenting a compelling case for the latter as a cornerstone of financial independence. I found this segment of the book particularly enlightening.
The conclusion of the book is as powerful as its beginning, offering a satisfying wrap-up and insights into life post-financial independence. It leaves you feeling motivated and equipped with the knowledge to embark on your own journey toward financial freedom.
Another noteworthy mention are other book recommendations that the authors share at the end of each chapter.
In summary, "Firedom" is a must-listen for anyone serious about achieving financial independence. Its insightful, practical advice, coupled with the engaging narrative and thought-provoking discussions, make it an invaluable resource. Whether you're a novice or well on your way to financial freedom, this audiobook offers something of value for everyone.
