Historia
Amber Patterson Parrish has come a long way from being an invisible wallflower. Her hard work and immaculate planning have paid off now that she’s a prominent socialite, but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been bumps along the way. Less than a year since her husband Jackson’s tax-evasion scandal, Amber is still at the top of the Bishops Harbor community pecking order, free to do as she wishes while Jackson sits in prison. But that freedom is quickly coming to an end. With Jackson getting released from prison, Amber’s time—and money—is vanishing.

Annoying
Revisado: 07-16-24
Halfway through and can’t finish. I don’t know if it’s the narration or just the dialogue, but it’s just mean. And I feel like she’s trying to hard to show awful Amber is. It’s just unbelievable or actually just sad.

Historia
Emma Caan is a fake. She’s a forger, an artist who specializes in nineteenth-century paintings. But she isn’t a criminal; her copies are commissioned by museums and ultra-wealthy collectors protecting their investments. Emma’s more than mastered a Gauguin brushstroke and a van Gogh wheat field, but her work is sometimes a painful reminder of the artistic dreams she once chased for herself, when she was younger and before her family and her world fell apart.

Was Hoping for a Twist
Revisado: 07-04-22
I was captivated for the most part. The narrative was intriguing, but the naivety was irritating. I loved the detail given about this exorbitant lifestyle. The detail and passion for art in this novel really left an impression. But the storyline itself needed some sort of twist. I was hoping it wouldn’t be as directly obvious as it looked in the very first chapter. I decided to rewrite an ending with more intrigue for myself.
Still worth a listen though! The character’s and their backstories are intriguing even though they’re predictable. I did enjoy the book overall.

Historia
For Emily Rossi, life may not be perfect, but it's pretty close. She has a great career, a house in the country, a solid marriage to Eric and two wonderful children - tennis superstar Daniel and quiet, sensitive Zara. But when her fourteen-year-old daughter brings home a toxic new best friend, Emily’s seemingly perfect family starts to spiral out of control.

More Real than Fiction
Revisado: 07-04-22
I think the narrative was intriguing, I actually grew to like Emily. I was irritated by the ending though. I was hoping there would be a twist. I actually think things came together to seamlessly in the end without adding more complexities to the characters.

Historia
Nina once bought into the idea that her fancy liberal arts degree would lead to a fulfilling career. When that dream crashed, she turned to stealing from rich kids in LA alongside her wily Irish boyfriend, Lachlan. Nina learned from the best: Her mother was the original con artist, hustling to give her daughter a decent childhood despite their wayward life. But when her mom gets sick, Nina puts everything on the line to help her, even if it means running her most audacious, dangerous scam yet.

Cynical but Moral In the End
Revisado: 09-01-20
I don’t know. Something about her perspective was very judgmental. Can’t tell if it’s the authors bias or a well developed character. Overall good plot, some twists, well developed characters and the dialogue was very believable. No cliché dialogue, which makes listening very enjoyable. Overall, I have to say, I was hooked.

Edge of your seat & Wonderful Narration
Revisado: 11-25-19
The three readers in this book were spot on. Nothing too sweet or overbearing in their performances. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I found myself sitting in my driveway until the end of a chapter because I couldn’t turn it off. Highly recommend!

Historia
Hen and her husband, Lloyd, have settled into a quiet life in a new house outside of Boston, Massachusetts. Hen (short for Henrietta) is an illustrator and works out of a studio nearby and has found the right meds to control her bipolar disorder. Finally, she’s found some stability and peace. But when they meet the neighbors next door, that calm begins to erode as she spots a familiar object displayed on the husband’s office shelf. The sports trophy looks exactly like one that went missing from the home of a young man who was killed two years ago.

Great Narrator, makes the book that much better
Revisado: 07-20-19
I love a good psychological thriller with a twist. This one does not disappoint.
There’s a banter between the characters that clicks into place as the story progresses. There’s a rhythm to the chaos surrounding these people.
Also, most necessarily, all loose ends are tied up by the ending.
And the narrator! I love her raspy voice and tone. A narrator can really make or break a book and she nailed it!
