I loved the story and Bahni Turpin is amazing!! I hope some non minorities read or listen to this book cuz it's real! What African Americans and other minorities have been going through for decades. Sad that I'm 2017' the story line could've happened in 1960 and could and does still happen today. I could picture the characters and Bahni makes them come alive. Why are there angry minorities, cuz the sh** in this book is still life for many and no one cares. The USA is not the land of opportunity for all, only for some and been that way since the beginning. Read or listen to this book and open your mind.

I like this series and love the narrator but too much sex for my taste.. it didn't add to the story line and I had to push myself to get through it. Not my favorite book but that's me.. maybe I am a prude.

First of all, the narrator should've been told how to pronounce names.. She pronounced "Shy or Shai" as "Shaaayy" the whole story, drove me nuts. The story was strong and I'm a fan of K'wan but you have to love the hood stories to appreciate his books!
