Historia
Wealthy, privileged Ilaria Cavendish checks into a luxury hotel in central London. Within the hour, her lover finds her submerged in a bath full of scalding water, dead. At first glance it looks like an accident, because no one went into the room with her and no one came out, but everything points to murder. For DS Maeve Kerrigan the case is a welcome distraction from her worries about DI Josh Derwent, who is struggling with a difficult situation – but then disaster strikes.

Perfect 👌
Revisado: 04-29-25
This has been a favorite series for years, based largely on the strength of these two characters. The series has been exquisitely designed and perfectly paced, and without saying too much, this installment is perfection. 100% satisfied.

Loving this as a new spin-off of the Kerrigan series...Casey makes Rob just as compelling and relatable a protagonist as Maeve, and seems like he deserves his time away from the inexorable gravitational pull of Maeve and Derwent! I'm all for it, and will be looking for future installments of Rob's series!

Historia
Every day without fail, Travis Devine puts on a cheap suit, grabs his faux-leather briefcase, and boards the 6:20 commuter train to Manhattan, where he works as an entry-level analyst at the city’s most prestigious investment firm. In the mornings, he gazes out the train window at the lavish homes of the uberwealthy, dreaming about joining their ranks. In the evenings, he listens to the fiscal news on his phone, already preparing for the next grueling day in the cutthroat realm of finance. Then one morning Devine’s tedious routine is shattered by an anonymous email: She is dead.

Amazing that so much deep-rooted misogyny can be packed into a book that's pretending to be progressive toward women. I was hoping the storyline would carry me...but I hated every minute of it.

I’ve probably listened to it a dozen times, a near perfect story, woven with grace and magic and expertise, and a deep understanding of the teenage psyche. The narration is perfection as well. Just superb.

Historia
In this moving story about losing and finding love again, a woman sets out to find the perfect matches for those closest to her. Forty-eight-year-old Nantucketer Dabney Kimball Beech has always had a gift for matchmaking. Some call her ability mystical, while others, her husband, celebrated economist John Boxmiller Beech, and her daughter, Agnes, who is clearly engaged to the wrong man, call it meddlesome. But there's no arguing with her results: With 42 happy couples to her credit and all of them still together, Dabney has never been wrong about romance.

An elite crew trained to combat the most challenging wildfires, the Granite Mountain Hotshots were a ragtag family crisscrossing the American West and wherever else the fires took them. Historia
Across the ranchlands and cities of his home state, Rory Yates's discipline and law-enforcement skills have carried him far: from local highway patrolman to the honorable rank of Texas Ranger. He arrives in his hometown to find a horrifying crime scene and a scathing accusation: he is named a suspect in the murder of his ex-wife, Anne, a devoted teacher whose only controversial act was ending her marriage to a Ranger. In search of the killer, Yates plunges into the inferno of the most twisted and violent minds he's ever encountered, vowing to never surrender.

I'll add my name to those that find the writing sophomoric. In addition, this book is so wildly misogynistic that I had to check to make sure it wasn't written in the '70s. Absolute drivel, and offensive by today's standards. I really tried to listen but I absolutely hate this book.

Historia
Stark narrates a series of outdoor adventure stories in which thrill can cross the line into mortal peril. Each death or brush with death is at once a suspense story, a cautionary tale, and a medical thriller. He describes what goes through the mind of a cross-country skier as his body temperature plummets - apathy at 91 degrees, stupor at 90 - and explores the physiology of a snowboarder trying not to panic as he consumes the tiny pocket of air trapped around his face under thousands of pounds of snow.

Exactly what I was looking for. I disagree with those who think the author isn't the right narrator for this...his voice is rich and just right for the subject matter. Beautifully researched and written. Excellent all around.

But she’s always been haunted by the feeling that it could’ve been her. And the worst part is, January’s killer has never been brought to justice.

Revisado: 10-15-22
I listened to the end, hoping it would get better. It only got worse. Puerile writing, sub-par narration. You can see the red herrings from miles away. No surprises here. Many threads left hanging. Sorry I spent the time on this one.
