Make believe Science
Revisado: 01-21-24
The author begins with and then repeatedly presents a make believe “science” that projects animal and human qualities to trees.
He profers relentless and poorly researched or supported projections onto Trees of “brains, emotions, planning, execution, societal norms”, etc.
His book is one long paean to humanizing trees.
To wish it true, is not the same as proving it.
Long
Repetitive
Simplistic
Childlike projections of what “I want to be true” as opposed to what is true.
His scientific references are off point, poorly supported and poorly connected.

When Alan uses one of Milo’s compromised aliases to travel to London and then disappears, calling all kinds of attention to his actions, Milo can’t help but go in search of him. Revisado: 08-16-20
Horrible stochastic plot. No sense of progression. No beginning. All middle. No end.
Confusing. Long winded passages to nowhere. Shallow character development.
I can’t imagine a positive comment in review.

Historia
The messages waiting for Henry Pierce when he plugs in his new phone clearly aren't intended for him. They indicate something has gone terribly wrong for a woman named Lilly. Pierce probes, investigates, and then tumbles through a hole, leaving behind a life driven by work to track down and help a woman he's never met. Connelly's latest is "a grabber from the beginning...utterly compelling."

Not nearly his best
Revisado: 01-11-20
This is not Michael Connelly’s best or even near. The characters are shallow. The pace is plodding slow and predictable. The plot is pedantic. There is no “there, there”.....
I “waited” the entire book for “Michael Connelly “ to show up!

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.
