Every porn scene is a record of people at work. But on-camera labor is only the beginning of the story. Porn Work takes listeners behind the scenes to explore what porn performers think of their work, and how they intervene to hack it. Blending extensive fieldwork with feminist and antiwork theorizing, Porn Work details entrepreneurial labor on the boundaries between pleasure and tedium.

I hope at least they got a good grade. They will have if the grade was based on how boring they could manage to make the subject sound.

Historia
The Submarine Lifeguard League was formed toward the end of World War II in order to rescue downed Allied pilots. The League helped to save the lives of hundreds of Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps pilots from the Japanese as well as from death at sea. The author provides a riveting narrative of the adventures of this subdivision of the US Naval Fleet. From being killers, the US submarines changed into lifesavers in the last two years of the war. The author, Vice-Admiral Charles Lockwood (1890-1967) was the legendary commander of the US submarine fleet in the Pacific.

Boomer Review
Revisado: 05-19-20
No problem with Charles Lockwood's book I also have his much more comprehensive tome covering all the submarine activity of the United States in the Pacific. Narrator is obviously way too young (And whoever proof-listened, presuming they do that) to have spent their rainy Saturdays watching John Wayne, Ronald Reagan, and Cary Grant win the war for us. Let alone watching documentaries like the Victory at Sea Series on Channel 11. But come on guys! What about YouTube? They mostly get it right on there. Many easy words were butchered, Halsey, Tarawa , and you don't want to know how he handled Leyte and the chain of island that contains the island of Saipan are the Marianas, not the Marinaras (Seriously?) I wouldn't kvetch if I didn't think I could do a better job myself. I guess I should look into that.

An exercise in the author's self-aggrandisement
Revisado: 08-26-19
This book did not tell me anything that I even wanted to know about Woodstock '94. The book pretty much exists as the author's excuse to name drop on the basis of a rather tenuous connection to the event. My connection? Also rather tenuous, I served as an EMT for the community surrounding the event during the entire duration of the event and before at the site during the preparation. I did see what was required for the community to hold Micheal Lang's feet to the fire to properly organize and execute everything necessary to hold the only Woodstock that wasn't effectively a manufactured natural disaster. Woodstock '94 wasn't perfect; but it was way better than the 30th, and the 50th anniversary concert. There's at least one proper book waiting to be written on that subject.

PT 105

Historia
Admittedly small and vulnerable, PT boats were, nevertheless, fast - the fastest craft on the water during World War II - and Dick Keresey's account of these tough little fighters throws new light on their contributions to the war effort. As captain of PT 105, the author was in the same battle as John F. Kennedy when Kennedy's PT 109 was rammed and sunk. The famous incident, Keresey says, has often been described inaccurately and the PT boat depicted as unreliable and ineffective.

A great first hand account of PT boat action
Revisado: 02-12-18
If you could sum up PT 105 in three words, what would they be?
Exciting Naval story
What did you like best about this story?
The author had a great experience with the PT boat's story from the beginning, and then was stationed throughout the war in key campaigns.
Which scene was your favorite?
Hard to say , from the trials and tribulations of training, to the battle accounts, they are all very good and the book flows almost as effortlessly and with as much excitement, as the its namesake boat in the title.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The author generated empathy in me as he told of a number of quite humorous incidents and with honesty and candor in the light it showed him.in and how the loss of friends affected him
Any additional comments?
The narration was one of the best I have ever heard in an Audio book You will think you're listening to the author extemporaneously spinning tales of his time in the war.

Historia
On the edge of the Isleta Indian Reservation in the foothills of New Mexico lies the Decalogue Stone, a giant boulder inscribed with the Ten Commandments in Phoenician Hebrew characters. The Indians, Spanish and Americans knew of its existence, and the nearby Crypto-Jewish community of Los Quelites venerated it, building a secret altar that the Spanish Inquisition smashed and destroyed.

very stupid book
Revisado: 11-07-16
Would you try another book from Donald N. Panther-Yates and/or David Coatney?
no
Would you ever listen to anything by Donald N. Panther-Yates again?
no
Any additional comments?
I guess I should have returned this book immediately. I lived for a time near Los Lunas, and I knew that the first European settlement from Spain, coincided with the Spanish Inquisition. That might have led to possible emigration of Jews to New Mexico at a very early date. The 8th century? Please! I have just 2 words: Small and Pox.So what did happen to the indigenous populations in the years following 1492 would have happened in the 8th century! Enough said.

Historia
When musicians in the New York folk scene of the 1960s grew tired of city life, they decided to "get it together in the country". They headed for Woodstock - not to the site of the infamous music festival of 1969 but to the Catskills, to Bearsville, to Woodstock proper. Counterculture revolutionaries like Janis Joplin, Richie Havens, and Paul Butterfield got "back to the land", turning the once sleepy hollow into a funky Shangri-La.

A lot of answers to stories of my youth
Revisado: 07-28-16
I grew up in the town next to Woodstock a few years after a lot of the story took place. (I was 11 in 1969) The whole scene was the underlying pulse of my youth. We knew the personalities, and some of the stories, This narrative provides an excellent disquisition of the spiderweb that was the Woodstock scene possibly best told by someone outside of the world. The only minus was the pronunciation, of several locations.Notably Ohayo Mountain Road is not pronounced like the state between Pennsylvania and Indiana.

Historia
America was the undisputed world power in 1947, just after the War, and New York was the center, and the center of everything from the arts, business, culture, and just living. The ambitious came here to get their start and it was the age of the New Yorker, at its finest. By 1963, marked by the Kennedy Assassination, that power drifted away with the Dodgers and Giants to California and Fortune 500 companies to Texas and elsewhere. But in this period, New York was the City of Ageless Grace.

My Best listen in a while
Revisado: 05-11-12
I'm a car nut and a compulsive reader, growing up I jad subscriptions to Hot Rod, Motor Trend, Road & Track, Car and Driver and Motorcyclist fo good measure. I owned 2 '67 Goats. a '69 Mach 1, various Volkswagens, even a Corvair, although, mine had a 300hp '70
Camaro engine sitting where the back seat once resided. Even though I usually think I know this subject thoroughly, I learned a lot from this book. Well written with surpisingly few technical mistakes (and I might be wrong about those, who knows it might be possible)
He provideds in depth knowledge and analysis of the motivations for the vehcles and their legacies on our world I cannot recommend this book enough to any person wh has an interest in this subject, and maybe a little grease under their fingernails

Historia
At the outbreak of the War of 1812, America's prospects looked dismal. It was clear that the primary battlefield would be the open ocean but America's war fleet, only 20 ships strong, faced a practiced British navy of more than a thousand men-of-war. Still, through a combination of nautical deftness and sheer bravado, the American navy managed to take the fight to the British and turn the tide of the war.
