I listened to this after I had listened to a long book that should have been edited…to long - verbose! I checked and it was shorter than this one. This on the other hand held my interest throughout from beginning to the end. I think this might be the first book that I can honestly say made me truly keep interested in each of the characters. Narration was strong and supported the story. The text was strong, compassionate, and was sensitive to the characters’ struggles with drug addiction.

Excellent

The story made it very challenging to put the book down. I found myself deliberately stopping because I didn’t want it to end. The blend of humor and sincerity in the text for each character enhanced their perspectives. It was all further heightened by the narrators.

Great Story

I loved the story so much that it felt like it was over too soon. Cendese’s narration once again did not disappoint. The story flowed - the characters were distinct enough to keep them clear.

Story Ok…Problems with Narration

I must admit that I bought this book because Cendese was one of the narrators. He did not disappoint. DiCosmino fell flat for me. Some of the weak humor (let’s face it this genre is riddled with bad puns) was even worse because of LD. When he read the tease for the next book it convinced me to drop the series from my list…the sample text seemed in realistic.

Gradually Lost My Interest

It felt slow from the start, but I was giving it a chance. Some of the humor felt forced. Towards the end when the son came home, the story felt forced. Spoil Alert… the kid seemed out of sync - hard to buy his reactions for someone in college…especially if he himself was gay. Narration was good, story was not.

Blakey, Hamilton, and Morgan Don’t Disappoint

I thought that the pace of the storyline moved at a good pace. I felt that I had a good insight of the characters as they developed. The sex was hot. Many times I find that one or more of these are missing in some stories. I already miss these characters!

Moving and Inspiring

Mr. Fierstein’s memoir was everything I hoped it would be and more. I can proudly say that I saw an early Broadway performance of Torch Song Trilogy. I “gifted” two friends with tickets and we went as the rare gay audience members (at that time). I wept with pride when I “saw my story” unfold on stage. It inspired me as did this memoir! Thank you Mr. Fierstein!

A bit slow

I did like the characters and story. It did drag a bit for me. I found myself needing to increase the speed during the last couple of chapters.

I think this is one of the most well-written romance novels I have read in a while. The characters are well nuanced, likable, and make the story worth reading. Cendese and Toma always enhance these novels for me.
