Heralded as an instant classic of fantasy literature, Maguire has written a wonderfully imaginative retelling of The Wizard of Oz told from the Wicked Witch's point of view. More than just a fairy tale for adults, Wicked is a meditation on the nature of good and evil.

The galaxy is doomed. Monkeys may be clever and too stubborn to give up, but Skippy The Idiot Who Got Played knows the harsh truth: this is a fight he can’t win. The odds are not only stacked against him, he was designed not to win this fight. Maybe he can salvage some faint memory of the civilizations that inhabit the galaxy, but those beings are doomed. Doomed. Including the Merry Band of Pirates.

But the deeper she ventures into Wonderland, the more topsy-turvy everything becomes. It’s not until she’s at her wits end that she realizes - Wonderland is trying to save her. There’s a new player on the board; a poet capable of using Nightmares to not only influence the living but raise the dead. Great second installment.
I personally struggled with one of the relationships but overall this was another great story. I hope she has more in store for us.
I think Jeanette could have read for all the characters. She is a great narrarator!

Highly enjoyable!
This might be me but there was way too much heroine guilt. Not sure if it's a thing but it seems apologetic that she is a badass. Not so cool. Still a nice story. Looking forward to the next.

The Title Got Me
Revisado: 10-14-22
I was intrigued by the title and the story sucked me in. I enjoyed this book more than expected. Slavery is a theme I don't often read about. This book although fiction gave some historical perspective that reawakened in me the horror of that practice and it's long term consequences on every one in our society.
The story flow was good and the voicing of the author was great.
I was surprised by the ending but I appreciated it.

In Ishmael, which received the Turner Tomorrow Fellowship for the best work of fiction offering positive solutions to global problems, Daniel Quinn parses humanity’s origins and its relationship with nature, in search of an answer to this challenging question: How can we save the world from ourselves?

An interesting perspective
Revisado: 10-14-22
I read this book not really having any idea what is was about. I thought it might be a religious book based on the title.
It was not what I expected but I suspect that was good because it opened up a perspective on live that I have never before consider.
I look forward to reading more of this authors work.
I gave an overall rating of 4 because for me some of the dialog got lecturey

Great as per Usual
Revisado: 08-28-22
I am never one to yuk someone's yum, but the negative reviews I think are unwarranted. If you are reading book this far in the series and you don't love the story even if it rings similar to the many other books in the series, why bother reading it. Much less write a review. Maybe this series isn't for you.
I love the story and this book was no let down. Looking forward to the next.

My daughter and I completely enjoyed this book. We thought the front end was slow. But the writing was good. Looking forward to the 2nd book.
This was a long book but could have improved with an epilog.
