Historia
East House is the oldest and least desirable dorm on campus, but it has a draw for lonely university freshman Aleeza Kassam: Jay Hoque, the hot and broody student who vanished from East House five months ago without a trace. It’s irresistible to an aspiring investigative journalist like Aleeza. But when she starts receiving texts from Jay, the mystery takes an unexpected turn. To put it mildly.

Historia
Obituary writer Nadine Barbault doesn’t mind being called “Lady Death”. It suits the ice queen persona she’s cultivated to survive the fast-paced Toronto Herald. So when Nadine learns that famous (and reclusive) author Dot Voline has died, she doesn’t hesitate to run the obituary…only to discover that Dot is very much alive. Nadine’s screw-up has brought Wesley Chen of the rival Spear no end of joy—she’s been a thorn in his extremely ambitious side for years. But the renewed interest in Dot also surfaced chatter about a mysterious past scandal.

What a funny and charming story! One of the best Audible originals I have heard. It kept me riveted as the leads search for clues in the fantastic mansion. I loved how the romance develops between the protagonists bringing story to a satisfying conclusion.

Suspenseful story with engaging characters

Exciting start and slow reveal of major characters’ histories. Dynamic interactions and quick reversals of fortune. Overall a deviously suspenseful story with appealing and engaging characters.

Judith Potts is 77 years old and blissfully happy. She lives on her own in a faded mansion just outside Marlow, there’s no man in her life to tell her what to do or how much whisky to drink, and to keep herself busy she sets crosswords for The Times newspaper. One evening, while out swimming in the Thames, Judith witnesses a brutal murder. Historia
Hockey coach Ashley Jaswal doesn't take nonsense from anyone … except her overbearing and superstitious family. They believe she's a good luck charm for her brother Jas, the newest Vancouver Canucks draft pick, forcing Ash to attend all his games as he rises up the NHL ranks, sacrificing her personal life (not that she has one—who decided hockey season needed to be 10 months long anyway?). Ash also clashes with Jas’s teammate, Canucks captain Devin Snyder.

Outstanding performances
Revisado: 11-15-24
This dramatization of AC’s classic who dunnit was superb. Though I have read both print and audio versions of this book several times before, these superb voice actors breathed new life into the story. I was captivated from the first word to the final sentence. I am so glad I chose to listen to this great production.

Edge of the seat excitement with excellent literary writing
Revisado: 07-07-24
Nevada Barr does it again! The book is action packed without sacrificing her gift of words. For example, she described one of her characters this way: “He was what her mother would call a natural husband man. He took care of things: cars, cats, people, and did so in such a way it went unnoticed and unsung.” I also love her literary allusions and the fact that she uses them sparingly, choosing the perfect ones. There is no pretension; they just fit. I have enjoyed the development of the recurring characters, especially Anna Pigeon. As I read each novel, feel like I’m taking a trip to each of the national parks. I am grateful there are so many more in the series yet to enjoy.
