Historia
From Beneath the Ice is more than a book, it is a triumph of the human spirit. Todd’s mind was hijacked, but he slowly took the helm and charted a new course. It was a difficult process for him to write this book, but in the end, it was empowering. Publishing was even harder, knowing that his darkest moments would be ‘out there’ for the world to see. He knew his primary focus was to help people and contribute to ending the stigma about mental illness. To do this, he had to be more courageous than he had ever been.

Wow

I got chills listening to this book. I admire his strength and grace to tell his story so well and so raw. I do not suffer from schizophrenia but listening to him explain the details of what he sees how it affects him how he doubts himself…all of it. It really made me take a step back and wonder if I have ever encountered someone like this who maybe I judged or didn’t take the time to help. What he has gone through and managed to make it out on the other side is a true testament to his strength. Thank you for sharing your story!

Far out!

In the final credits of the book Tom says “Thank you for devouring the entire Don’t Call Me Jupiter Book Series.” I was sitting in the Chick-fil-A drive through thinking “Whoa. The dude knows I just binge listened to all three!”
Yes, they are that good. Read them all. Or listen to Tom tell you the story through Audible. Either way, do it.

Historia
Talking about death and dying is considered taboo in polite company, and even in the medical field. Our ideas about dying are confusing at best: Will our memories flash before our eyes? Regrets consume our thoughts? Does a bright light appear at the end of a tunnel? For most people, it will be a slower process, one eased with preparedness, good humor, and a bit of faith. At the forefront of changing attitudes around palliative care is hospice nurse Hadley Vlahos, who shows that end-of-life care can teach us just as much about how to live as it does about how we die.

Anyone who has ever lost a loved one will find some healing in this book. My father died when I was 5 of brain cancer. I remember my mom always said that the hospice nurses were angels. She was right. I loved listening to the author tell her stories. I didn’t want it to end.

Thank you for sharing your brave story! I only knew of Minka from Friday Night Lights. She’s had a fascinating (albeit sad at times), life. I enjoyed her reading it as well. She has a very calming voice.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Everyone deserves to tell their story but….
Revisado: 01-20-23
I was pretty indifferent to Harry and Meg before reading this. I wanted to read it simply because I love memoirs of all types from all backgrounds. It was well written. It was well narrated. However he didn’t do himself any favors in this book. At times he sounded just as entitled as one would think a price would be. I think what bothered me more than anything was his arrogance to return to Afghanistan knowing he would put more people in danger just by being there. And when the Taliban found out where he was and American and British soldiers were killed he summed it up in one sentence. Just one. But he droned on and on about how he was “meant to be there…THIS is what he was meant to do…”
Okay Harry….you’re a parent now. Tell that to the parents of the soldiers that were killed that night.
So again, it was well written and well narrated. But the UK can have them back now. There are plenty of selfish people in the US already.

Historia
As chronicled in his hit memoir Straight Pepper Diet, one fateful summer night, Joseph Naus, a young LA lawyer, went out to have just a couple of drinks. He awoke the next morning handcuffed to a hospital bed and charged with attempted murder. And then it got worse. The Palsgraf Revelation begins where Straight Pepper Diet left off. Joseph survived the initial blast of the nuclear bomb he dropped on his own life, but if he wants to become more than a shocking cautionary tale, he must now learn to live with the devastating fallout.

I loved Straight Pepper Diet so I was really excited for this follow up. It did not disappoint. You will find yourself rooting for Joseph and wanting him to succeed. Even if your addictions are not the same as Mr. Naus you will relate. My addictions are not the same as his but the trials and ways he finds to cope are helpful and relatable. I do not know him but I still wish for him to succeed and truly want him to live his best life. He is the true definition of why you give people a second chance.
