Once a barista in a small cafe making $6.50 an hour, Andrew Wilkinson built a business valued at over a billion dollars by the time he was 36—and yet, his path to success was anything but a straight line. In Never Enough, Wilkinson pulls back the curtain on the lives of the ultra-rich, sharing insights into building a successful business that has been called a “Berkshire Hathaway, but for internet companies,” and a surprising first-person account of what it's actually like to become a billionaire.

Historia
This is the first volume in a bold new series that tells the stories of all peoples, connecting historical events from Europe to the Middle East to the far coast of China, while still giving weight to the characteristics of each country. Susan Wise Bauer provides both sweeping scope and vivid attention to the individual lives that give flesh to abstract assertions about human history. This narrative history employs the methods of "history from beneath" - literature, epic traditions, private letters, and accounts - to connect kings and leaders with the lives of those they ruled.

History in story form
Revisado: 05-03-24
this has to be one of the most important books I've ever read. after reading many books on history this book is easily digestible and absolutely a fascinating read. it's wide and varied reach stretches across times past bringing to life the world before the world we know today.
my thanks to the author for all of her hard work and the years it must have taken to put this historical narrative.

The Billionaire's Story - Bait & Switch?...
Revisado: 03-11-24
After having read many a business book about how they achieved the great heights of their success, I was expecting that from a woman's perspective. As Ms. Trisha Bailey is now a Billionaire.
I LOVE BUSINESS and am a woman, so of course I wanted to glean any insights I could from someone who initially arrived from Jamaica into a fast-paced US society. How did she get acclimated to things? what did she do to earn her initial investment capital? what were some of the things she did when getting her business off the ground in the beginning?...
That is not what this book is about, it is about series of bad choices all leading to devastating consequences. I have read: Maya Angelou's: How the Caged Bird Sings, Viola Davis's: Finding Me, but those books; beautiful in their conception of tradegy to victory , though hard to read in some parts were easier than getting through this - this book was similar to the NBC show: This is Us; where every episode made you break out the Kleenex... after awhile you wonder how one didn't learn from the previous bad decision.
Anyway as much as I praise ms. Trisha Bailey for achieving her heights of success financially, this book is not about anything having to do with business. How could one be so smart in business and not have a clue about life... Be prepared to be overwhelmed with the poor decisions of an adult and wonder how one continued to make those decisions without learning anything from the previous bad choices.
insanity - to keep doing the same thing and expecting a different result. wow...

Wisdom for the Ages
Revisado: 10-14-19
This book was an amazing read (listen) Mia X was so lucky to have had the guidance of someone so wise in the ways of the world. Not to say that our families dont provide the support we need but her G-Ma was like a wise old sage who channeled the wisdom of Confucius in a modern day world. With a wit and humor that just doesn't give this book is sure to to please one and all who read / listen to it.
The recipes and the time spent in the kitchen remind me of my own upbringing waking up at 5am and spending time in the kitchen with my aunt while she made sunday dinner, I was always the support never actually learning what she was doing but just watching the magic happen - very different from Mia X who actually absorbed all the moments and translated them into every dish she continues to make till this day. Just a great read!!!
