Revisado: 01-31-25
A beautifully written reminder of one’s obligation to do the right thing in the face of adversity, not necessarily for the benefit of the recipient but to, in fact, save one’s self from heartache and despair. This will remain with me and reinforce my determination to be a better person every day.

This is the book to purchase! I won’t retell the plot, it’s best to discover it on your own. Experience joy and sadness, comedic relief and a great longing for our planet as it once was. You won’t be disappointed.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Heartwarming … Don’t Miss It!
Revisado: 06-10-24
Need a lift? Here’s the answer! This novel invites you recognize what should be obvious: age and species are not inhibitors of a loving, caring relationship. The author deftly binds characters so different and yet so alike in a lovely tale of humanity.

I recommend reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn before you read James. This book lends itself to audio storytelling so well, the dialects flesh out the words. Heartbreaking and full of hope and promise, James is a journey to the past. You won’t be disappointed.

Historia
In 1972, when workers in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, were digging the foundations for a new development, the last thing they expected to find was a skeleton at the bottom of a well. Who the skeleton was and how it got there were two of the long-held secrets kept by the residents of Chicken Hill, the dilapidated neighborhood where immigrant Jews and African Americans lived side by side and shared ambitions and sorrows. Chicken Hill was where Moshe and Chona Ludlow lived when Moshe integrated his theater and where Chona ran the Heaven & Earth Grocery Store.

Ridiculous Premise
Revisado: 09-21-23
This book is apparently an attempt to illustrate courtroom proceedings and the story was formed around this feeble attempt. What female lawyer would meekly hand over her cell phone for inspection by her husband? Really?? Don’t waste your time with this one.

Historia
The Earl of St. Merryn needs a woman. His intentions are purely practical - he simply wants someone sensible and suitably lovely to pose as his betrothed for a few weeks among polite society. He has his own agenda to pursue, and a false fiancée will keep the husband-hunters at bay while he goes about his business. The simplest solution is to hire a paid companion. Finding the right candidate proves more of a challenge than he expected.
