Historia
The gutsy, wild, tortured free spirit, forged in pain yet unafraid of life or death, Red Sonja, the famous, fiery She-Devil and barbarian of Hyrkania has never concerned herself with the consequences of her actions. She’s taken what she wanted, from treasure to drink to the companionship of bedfellows. She’s fought who deserved it (and sometimes those who didn’t). And she’s never looked back.

Not your average sword n sorcery
Revisado: 04-14-25
Well crafted world building, and complex characters, this is more than you might expect from the genre. Or maybe exactly what you'd expected from Gail Simone. I can't wait for the second on the series.

Maulkin didn't know dying would mean a new eternity of dungeon delving, monster slaying, and glory hunting. If he had, he wouldn't have been so worried about kicking the bucket on a date gone even more wrong than usual. Reborn in the wild world of Amaranth, Maulkin finds himself in a hulking demi-human body with a sword of a size to match. Marked as an Eternal, a fledging immortal of boundless potential, Maulkin soon discovers he's been given a mission by the elder pantheon of this new realm.

Pleasantly surprised
Revisado: 01-18-25
Clicked play by accident, but decided to give him t a go, and wouldn't you know it, it was pretty darn good! All of the characters feel real, lots of meat on them, and Luke does a fantastic job bringing each of them to life. The whole story reminded me of my old gaming group, and had me noddingy head the whole way through.

Historia
When Van Tudor returns to his childhood home, he inherits more than the family farm. His grandfather used to tell him fantastic stories of spacemen and monsters, princesses and galactic knights. Little did Van realize, the old man's tales were more than fiction; they were real. Hidden beneath the old barn, Van’s legacy is waiting: a starship, not of this world. With his combat AI, an android bird named Perry, Van takes his first steps into the wider galaxy. He soon finds that space is far busier and more dangerous than he could have ever conceived.

Firefly meets Hitchiker's Guide
Revisado: 04-22-22
I really didn't expect much. It was a Daily Deal and I got it for $4. I've listened to dozens of such books, most are okay, some are bad, but every once in a while, you get a gem. This book is a gem. The characters are fun & have more than one dimension, the dialogue & banter is right up there with the best episodes of Firefly, and the worldbuilding is really interesting. Well done Chaney & Maggert! I'm now committed to buying the rest of the series, and all because I wanted a cheap read one afternoon.

good content, terrible pronunciation by reader.
Revisado: 11-04-19
The title of my review pretty much sums it up. As someone from the Caribbean, it Chad's me to hear the native and Spanish pronunciations in this book utterly butchered. It was so bad that it distracted me from the content, which was pretty sound and informative for the most part.

Casting makes or breaks an audio book...
Revisado: 06-20-19
I have to agree with the other reviews with regard to the casting of this third book. I can only imagine the actress who played Eva in book 2 was not available for book 3, but I am confounded by the terrible Rosie Perez impersonation the replacement actress seems to have been going for. It was really grating, and ruined the audio book experience for me. Even the best book can be broken by a terrible performance, and it's a real shame it had to happen in the last book of a very good series. The fact that I didn't immediately stop listening is a testament to the strength of the story. I wanted to finish it. I'm glad I did...but I almost wish I'd read it instead of listened to it.

Historia
Watchman by day, vigilante by night, Shadowbane's world is turned upside down when he runs across a powerful wizard - in the form of a confused, hunted girl who finds herself at the heart of a fell plot. When his friends start dying and the girl is kidnapped, Shadowbane must choose between the darkness and the light in his heart: to avenge the deaths of his friends, or to let the villain live to face - and possibly escape - justice.

Puerile and one dimensional characters abound
Revisado: 12-28-18
I've read a few of the Waterdeep novels and a whole lot of Forgotten Realms books, , and have enjoyed all of them, or at least found something about them to enjoy, until I read this one. The interaction of the main character, in particular with women, is something I would expect to find on some schlocky, daytime TV soap opera or an overly dramatic reality show. The women all fawn over the Gary Stu protagonist, and that's pretty much their defining trait. They are all, without exception, one dimensional characters whose only role is to prop up Gary.
The protagonist himself has maybe two dimensions to him, but if you're familiar with Daredevil or Batman or Spawn then you already intimately know this character.... except this Gary Stu is a less sympathetic, and less interesting, version of that 'Dark Knight' troupe.
Most of the story is moved forward by infuriatingly dumb decisions made by the main character, who doesn't seem to learn from past experiences. I spent most of the book rolling my eyes of saying " Why would you do that?"
This is the sort of book I might have enjoyed when I was a 12 year old young man, when the fight scenes were the most important thing, and strutting, super-machismo was something to look up to. I'm not twelve anymore, and while I still like a good fight scene, it's the characters and their development that makes a good story. This book fails, spectacularly, on that most important front.

Historia
All of Waterdeep now knew someone was killing the Lords of Waterdeep one by one. Yet that was about where truth ended and speculation - however plausible - began. The broadsheets were full of wild conjecture. Who was behind this? The ousted Lord Neverember? The Zhentarim, the Cult of the Dragon, or some other Outland Power? The Xanathar? Some cabal of guilds or nobles planning a coup? The rumors would rage on whether the Open Lord Laeral Silverhand did something or not.

Good story, with lots of characters, and lots of Tealms and Waterdeep lore. must for a FR fan. It's almost a bit of a prerequisite to know the world before diving into this story.

Historia
As a child, Chris Hooper dreamed of monsters. But in deep space, he found only darkness and isolation. Then, on planet LV178, he and his fellow miners discovered a storm-scoured, sand-blasted hell - and trimonite, the hardest material known to man. When a shuttle crashes into the mining ship Marion, the miners learn that there was more than trimonite deep in the caverns. There was evil, hibernating and waiting for suitable prey.

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

This was much better than I'd anticipated, (just going off the plain sounding title) and I'd heartily recommend it to everyone who is a fan of great ensemble character building, and slow-burn Lovecraftian horror. Really a fun read.

Less than fifty thousand years ago mankind had no art, no religion, no sophisticated symbolism, no innovative thinking. Then, in a dramatic and electrifying change, described by scientists as "the greatest riddle in human history," all the skills and qualities that we value most highly in ourselves appeared already fully formed, as though bestowed on us by hidden powers.
