BDSM
Revisado: 03-25-25
This book was not my cup of tea. There was nonstop violent sex which was cringey to listen to. The story line was unrealistic and seemed to be slipped in between the sex. In addition the story is insulting to members of the Army. But I gotta hand it to the narrators. They did an excellent job acting what must have been uncomfortable.

Historia
My darling son, Sam, is marrying his childhood sweetheart, and I couldn’t be prouder of the man he’s grown into. Walking out on his abusive father all those years ago was the best thing I ever did. And today he stands, tall and handsome, saying "I do" to my dream daughter-in-law. If I hadn’t pushed them together all those years ago, he might never have found a girl as perfect as Lauren. It’s true what they say, mother always knows best.

Suspenseful but depressing.
Revisado: 09-24-24
I stuck it out because it really was a good suspense story. But it was just sad beginning to end.

Traumatized
Revisado: 09-09-24
The narrator was so great which is the only reason I stuck it out to the end of this traumatic story. I don’t know how the narrator did it. Omg it must have been hard for her. Anyway I cannot recommend this book unless you are into torture and rape.

Pockets!
Revisado: 04-25-24
Women definitely listen to this book! I usually don’t gravitate to books written by men and narrated by men. But this book was so good and the narrator performed with such heart. I hope Charles Martin writes a sequel to this book. I kinda fell in love with Pockets and I want to know what happens next.

Overall great but….
Revisado: 03-21-24
I have trouble with multiple narrators because I’ll get used to one character’s voice from one narrator. But then it takes me awhile in the next chapter with the next narrator to figure out the voices. That being said this story was new and interesting to me and it kept my interest until the nicely wrapped up ending that held a slight surprise.

Historia
Of course, I’m not going to murder her in the night. I need my laptop back first. That’s the whole point of making friends with Emily Harper, author of the hugely successful novel Diary of an Octopus. So I could get into her apartment and take back what’s mine. Emily doesn’t know who I really am. She thinks I’m her biggest fan, her new best friend who happens to need a place to stay for a few days. She doesn’t realize the laptop she found—and took—from a busy airport almost two years ago was mine. I don’t care about the laptop, just what's on it: my diary.

YA
Revisado: 01-16-24
I stuck with the story because it was kind of different and I had just enough curiosity to stick it out. But I think this is really a YA book. The characters were all young and not likable. I figured out “whodunnit” early and easily. So I’d say if you like listening to something in the background it’s fairly unique but not all that exciting to older listeners.

Great piece of history
Revisado: 12-27-23
It’s been one thing to hear in my life that my ancestors came to America from Ireland due to the great potato famine. It’s an entirely different experience to listen to this historical fiction book. I’m not one to write a lot of reviews but this book really sits with me. Some reviews said it was too long and wordy. I think I listened to this at the right time for me. That aspect of the book just drew me in. If you don’t need a fast and furious murder mystery right now with a lot of twists and turns, do yourself a favor and lose yourself in this amazing bit of history.

Read This Series
Revisado: 08-11-23
I left a good review for The Water Keeper though I complained about the narrator mispronouncing some sailing terms. I was happy to see he eventually fixed that in the subsequent books. I went on to listen to The Letter Keeper. I was enjoying it so much that I went back and listened to The Water Keeper again. I listened to all three in succession and it was a great long listen! I highly recommend.

Good and bad
Revisado: 07-15-23
If you grew up sailing as I did the narrator will drive you crazy. I wish someone would have edited his mispronunciation of sailing terms like starboard and bowline. Also his voice seemed too young. The story was too long with much more description and embellishment than I would have liked. But I stuck it out because the actual story was good.

If you want to be depressed
Revisado: 06-16-23
I thought this book would be educational about McCarthyism. But it barely touched in that. It was depressing from beginning to end. The narrator did a good job but I felt sorry for her having to perform such a sad book.
