Sweet but…

Ugh this was so angsty but sweet , I was rooting so hard for them. Interesting though with larks first black love interest how minimally she describes her physically . She was so meticulous about describing Aida and nessa, even riona but Camille and Simone were fairly nebulous .

I liked that Simone had twi heritage though we didn’t see much of it there was a good enough presence where it felt grounding especially in show casing the clash between Dante and her family… the dinner scene was truly one of the more excruciating scenes I’ve read of larks , I was eating it up - the foreboding of their Union was so prevelant from the start but the chemistry was there.

I did think the antagonist felt a little hand of god which hasn’t been an issue in prior books . It would have made sense to me if the sniper ended up being connected to the trafficker. I think it could have been more cathartic that way as well …nevertheless still a fun read.
This book is now number 3 with savage lover being top, and brutal prince second ( though I cried in brutal prince) something about Camille and Nero just felt infinitely more potent to me

Also … although I really enjoyed Alan Carlson as Dante’s his “girl voice” really cringed me out , she sounded 5 why do male narrators do this?. Jodie kurz was absolutely incredible and was so distinct in each characterization! Had fun as usual I think savage lover so far is still my fave followed but brutal prince and then bloody heart … so far

A blessing to be back in janloon

I loved this story so much . Being back in janloon and hearing Andrew kishinos voice was such an immense comfort to me. I started tearing up seeing hilo and and the maiks and lan again. It remains bittersweet. I wish this series would never end !

I could not put this down but my heart !!!

For my own health I had to take breaks bc this is a blood pumping heart wrending scintillating listen and so sublimely performed!
The goosebumps I had in the last 15 mins of the book ( as I always listened in motion) had me running to find a chair!

Utterly spellbinding from cover to cover, audacious, sexy and as a black woman who loves sci fi/ fantasy where we are often not included specifically.. to see a world that you a purposefully counted is trulyyyy exhillarating. 10/10 recommend.
