Historia
One man—visionary billionaire restaurant chain magnate T. R. Schmidt, Ph.D.—has a Big Idea for reversing global warming, a master plan perhaps best described as “elemental.” But will it work? Ranging from the Texas heartland to the Dutch royal palace in the Hague, from the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas to the sunbaked Chihuahuan Desert, Termination Shock brings together a disparate group of characters from different cultures and continents who grapple with the real-life repercussions of global warming.

One of Stephenson's Best!
Revisado: 02-05-22
This novel has everything you expect from a Stephenson novel: complex characters in an interesting plot relevant to the situation in which the world finds itself, all perfectly executed by one of the great storytellers of our time. The narrator is also the perfect choice. I can't find a single flaw.

Historia
The second crime novel by internationally best-selling writer Eoin Colfer is a gritty and utterly compelling follow-up to the critically acclaimed Plugged. In Screwed, Colfer adds an entirely new chapter to the adventures and misadventures of Daniel McEvoy, the down-on-his-luck Irish bouncer at a seedy New Jersey bar who, with the help of a motley crew of unlikely characters, solved a bizarre string of murders - including the one of the girl he loved. But people around him continue to die mysteriously, and Daniel is called into action once again.

Wonderful performance of a classic noir mystery. Spare writing with a great private eye, who has great psychological and social insight into the people he meets, which makes him a detective with a sympathetic morality. You will love it.

Historia
A hard-faced woman clad in a blue mink stole and dripping with diamonds hires Lew Archer to track down her former maid, who she claims has stolen her jewelry. Archer can tell he’s being fed a line, but curiosity gets the better of him and he accepts the case. He tracks the wayward maid to a ramshackle motel in a seedy, run-down small town, but finds her dead in her tiny room, with her throat slit from ear to ear. Archer digs deeper into the case and discovers a web of deceit and intrigue, with crazed number-runners from Detroit, gorgeous triple-crossing molls, and a golden-boy shipping heir who’s gone mysteriously missing.

couldn't get past the first 30 min
Revisado: 02-24-19
The most striking thing was the terrible sound. The reader's voice is low with a bass boom in the audio that made one have to strain to understand the words. In addition, the text was bland and characters mundane. I found myself thinking, how long do I have to endure this, as we had planned to listen as a family. Finally I said - "do you want to continue?" - and the response was a resounding "NO." So it wasn't just me that was floundering in this performance and book.

Every moment of this book is thrilling, and I have never heard a better reader. I'd listen to a book I didn't know just to hear him read. And Stephenson, of course, is a wonderful author, all of whose books I have read.

They skipped several chapters
Revisado: 03-03-18
My wife and I were loving this classic Parker while on a long drive home when nothing made any sense. It seemed as if something was missing, and, sure enough, when I consulted the hard copy, I discovered the Audible version had skipped several chapters just before the conclusion. Not sure if it's worse if they did it on purpose or by accident, but it's entirely unacceptable either way.
