Historia
It has been said, "The genius of a good book is that it explains a familiar subject with unfamiliar newness." Such is the case with this book. The incredibly vital topic of divine grace is opened here, layer after layer, until one feels as though a whole new dimension of thought and feeling has flooded into the soul. Like the multi-hued richness of the color spectrum, there are various Shades of Grace which compose the beautiful character of God.

Love for the win!
Revisado: 12-31-24
Ty Gibson is a gifted author. This book left me with a visceral sense of God's love and a heart-mind connection of the plan of salvation. It gives us somewhere to let all of our 'but why' questions rest, securely in Christ Jesus. I am incredibly grateful for Ty's writings and God's continual blessing upon him and the Lightbearers ministry.

A Crash Course in the Wisdom of Thomas Sowell
Revisado: 04-21-23
I have been listening to the many free T.S. books on audible when I came across this podcast. Listening to this has deepened my understanding of certain issues and I love that he included debates & thoughts from those who are not in agreement. A more balanced view from my perspective enriches & elevates the conversation I have with other 'normal', 'work a day' folks like me. Thank you for doing this podcast!

Historia
Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.

a story of speaking truth & holding space for love
Revisado: 12-20-19
The style of writing has an engaging flow and is easy to follow. The substance of the author's truth draws out a wide range of emotions and was at times extremely intense. This book is like an unpacked box, one that used to be neatly taped shut with a label on the outside listing the contents but now some of the contents have been removed and placed in an order that helps the reader understand their context and meaning. I have many such boxes of my own and I appreciate the care she has taken in ordering her memories in a way that honors her truth and yet compassionately holds space for a family many would write off. The author & I have eerily similar family dynamics, religious patriarchy, 5 brothers and I am even a seventh child. I understand the choice she had to make of living in her parents reality or her own, I had to do the same. This book offered up a sort of solidarity in the form of an inherent human dignity and a sense of belonging when its difficult to identify with a world that seems so void of depth & understanding such a life.
