Great book, well narrated.

Finally gave this a listen, I have been meaning to for years. Maggie Gyllenhaal is the perfect narrator for this book, she reads clearly and in keeping with the tone of the book. Harrowing, important story.

Historia
Tricky is one of the most original music artists to emerge from the UK in the past 30 years. His signature sound, coupled with deep, questioning lyrics, took the UK by storm in the early 1990s and was part of the soundtrack that defined the post-rave generation. This unique, no-holds barred autobiography is not only a portrait of an incredible artist - it is also a gripping slice of social history packed with extraordinary anecdotes and voices from the margins of society.

Wonderful book - narration too enthusiastic
Revisado: 05-24-20
I loved the insight this book provided into Tricky’s life. I’ve been a fan of his music for so many years, and this put it in perspective for me. It’s well written and honest.
The narration however did not, in my mind, capture the book well enough. It was, somehow, over enthusiastic with a lot of exclamations which, over time, got rather annoying.
It was still worth the listen, the merits of the book outweighing the narration.

After a visit to Blenheim Palace I felt compelled to buy this book and find out more about Gladys. Such a well researched and well written account it turned out to be. Well read by the author and it was an enjoyable bonus to hear a recording of Gladys’s voice in the first section of the book.

Historia
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

The family moved to Los Angeles, where Flea became fascinated with the trumpet, idolising musicians like Miles, Dizzy, and Louis....

Historia
Set in present-day Los Angeles, Junk explores an epic conspiracy, one at work for thousands of years that involves total takeover of the planet Earth by aliens. In the wild, souped-up vision of Les Bohem - the acclaimed, Emmy-winning writer of the Steven Spielberg miniseries, Taken - the world is at the end stage of long-range plot that involves a gigantic genetic-engineering project. The aliens who have invaded us have no planet. No spaceship is coming. Instead, a small advance force comes, breeds, and dies - thus becoming an anomaly in our DNA that can’t be explained.

Love John Waters - boring story.
Revisado: 04-14-19
John Waters is the only reason I made it into chapter 37 before giving up. Couldn’t face 5 more hours of this storyline. I wanted to like it and it did have some good gory body-horror aspects, but the story was just so convoluted and long-winded that the overall experience was a profound feeling of boredom.
