Historia
For dinosaurs, it was a big rock. For humans: Coronal Mass Ejection (CME). When the Earth is hit by the greatest CME in recorded history (several times larger than the Carrington Event of 1859), the combined societies of the planet's most developed nations struggle to adapt to a life thrust back into the Dark Ages. In the United States, the military scrambles to speed the nation's recovery on multiple fronts including putting down riots, establishing relief camps, delivering medical aid, and bringing communication and travel back on line. Just as a real foothold is established in retaking the skies (utilizing existing commercial aircraft supplemented by military resources and ground control systems), a mysterious virus takes hold of the population, spreading globally over the very flight routes that the survivors fought so hard to rebuild.

Excellent - Story, Narration, Characters!
Revisado: 04-14-18
If you could sum up Commune in three words, what would they be?
R. C. Bray combined with a very well written story equals an OUTSTANDING and extremely enjoyable listen. I had been looking for a good listen I waited for the release of the last Arisen Book; no luck at all. I had downloaded and returned several selections before I came across Commune narrated by the one and only R. C. Bray. Knowing R. C. Bray could narrate paint drying and keep me on the edge of my seat I hit purchased and kept my fingers crossed, I was not disappointed. I was hooked from the beginning with this new (for me) twist on a survival story (No spoil alert). Destructive event, time for limited reconstruction, followed by another understandable destructive event which thinned the population even more then the survival story begins. I waited for even the slightest example of unnecessary filler, it never came. I waited for the obligatory roaming gangs of Mad Max cannibals, they never showed up. I waited for at least one reason for me to "Roll my eyes and say COME ON," I never did. Great Story written from the memory of the main character was worth every bit of my time and money.

NOPE, soap opera'ish stupidity going back
Revisado: 04-02-18
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I would have kept listening if I could of stopped rolling my eyes and the story wasn't like a script for a really bad afternoon Lifetime Channel Movie. I was driving and just needed something to listen to, it was so bad I stopped and downloaded another book. Just a really dumb story with so many flaws, not just technical flaws, I cant even begin to list them all; here's a couple: Drunk rapists (DRIVING) to, and kicking in the doors of, an apartment 2 1/2 minutes after the power went out? All electronics out, except for all the vehicles people were DRIVING? Neighbors stealing from neighbors 3 1/2 minutes after the power went out before DRIVING away? Dumb "country folk" convinced the country was attacked by the Chinese or Russians 4 1/2 minutes after the power went out? The same "stupid" country folk abducting and abusing people 5 1/2 minutes after the power went out, then being outsmarted by stupid people and the stupid people who were abused feeling sorry for the other stupid people because someone needed something? (I pulled over at this point to find another story). The author should have listened to one EMP based story before writing this. I've listened to Kevin Pierce before. I do not get his style of narration, but when he has a good story to work with I can listen. I'm not sure, but if my review up to this point hasn't laid it out, this was not a good story.

An "Arisen-ish" great listen, keep em coming!
Revisado: 03-02-18
What did you love best about These Dead Lands: Immolation?
The story started and progressed without unnecessary filler or character development. This is a fast pace, realistic and well developed listen with likeable and understandable characters who band together to defend against realistic (as flesh eating zombies can be) living and dead bad guys. In most stories I've listened to with over armed military survivors (except Arisen) there has always been over eager bad character/s who want to rule the world. This story has an over armed group of hard core military members who want to protect survivors without exception, or demands, even though I found myself wanting some survivors run over, beaten or eaten. This is an incredible beginning to what can be an outstanding series, please keep going, I am a fan!
What does R.C. Bray bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
R. C. Bray is hands down the BEST at what he does. He could narrate paint drying and I would listen for hours. The only problem with his work is I do not want to listen to anyone else.

The narration is the worse I've heard; couldn't begin to say if I like the story.
I think some bad guys did some bad stuff to some good people, but OMG the narration is BAD so I can't say for sure, sorry.

Love it! Outstanding story narrated by R. C. Bray
Revisado: 01-15-18
I'm happy I found a story worth listening to as I wait for the final two Arisen books to hit Audible. This storyline will keep you listening and eager to find out what happens next to the characters brought to life in a way only R. C. Bray can. You will meet a group of "good" people who find the ultimate place to keep them alive in an area that provides everything to live in a post apocalyptic world. You will meet the "typical" pacifist good guys in an apocalyptic world who just can not adjust and try to take over. The "bad" guys show up in book one (including an outstanding bad guy who will make your skin crawl) and give you a taste of future conflicts; lots of bad guys and conflicts in the future.

What happened?????
Revisado: 08-17-16
Day by Day was my favorite series until I found the Arisen Series and I was excited to see a new release. I stopped a story I was listening to and excitedly started what I knew was going to be awesome; awesome never happened. I listened and waited for "it," but "it" never came. I am sorry to those who will not agree but this is from the series #1 fan and a listener who started listening to apocalyptic/zombie stories after the first three books.

UNMATCHED BRILLIANCE!
Revisado: 08-13-16
Would you consider the audio edition of Cataclysm to be better than the print version?
The brilliance of this story continues in volume nine as R. C. Bray, who is an absolute master of narration, tells the story in only the way he can. The story lines and various plots of the previous eight editions start to come together in a stand alone action packed and realistic manner. I only wish I had found this series after its full release.

Revisado: 07-10-16
This series consumed my life. I try to listen to stories between the painfully slow release cycle of this incredible series, but nothing compares and I end up returning the selection. 8.5 is so well written and narrated it could stand alone, DO NOT miss the opportunity to enjoy the entire Arisen Series.
