Really enjoyed this audible book First time with this author.
Two murders many years apart in the same family .DS Cross weaves a web on years of lies and cover up over decades. The author does an excellent review of character development of someone with Asbergers on the Spectrum of Autism. Not always easi!y recognized but really annoying to his coworkers and terrifying to his clients. He gets results.
I hope there is a other DS Cross book soon
I liked the narration .He had a calm reassuring voice.

I have really enjoyed this series. What an ending. I will not spoil it for other readers but I finished this book in one sitting.
I have especially liked how the author has let the main character develop and grow into this very complicated man dealing with his life, his job,his ex wife and his serious health issues. Cannot wait for the next book in this saga.

The mermaid singing.
Revisado: 11-20-14
Would you listen to The Mermaids Singing again? Why?
This was such a freaky sick book for people who have a sick sense of what good horror writing is.the main character enjoys describing in detail each and every homosexual killing.I read this book in two days that's how much I enjoyed this book
What other book might you compare The Mermaids Singing to and why?
This book stands alone for me . I will definitely read ms Val again .I must confess I missed the reason for the title can anyone explain?
Which character – as performed by Graham Roberts – was your favorite?
I believe that Graham Roberts did an excellent job with the different dialects I was originally from the south of England and I did not perfect a ear for the northern lilts. Now I live in the USA so it all sounds a very strong accent.I believe he did the killers voice the best.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me feel sick at some of the extreme torture especially to the police officer.i just saw the series on Tv and it did not have the same impact as the book on tape.
Any additional comments?
firstlty I think Ms McDermids writing is so different to the other writers she has so much imagination and her use of the English language is unique and totally her own.She is able to describe a death scene and you feel you are part of the team able to give the next answer to the Inspectors questions. Can you tell I like this author?

The child of a scheming father and ruthless mother, Lady Jane Grey is born during a time when ambition dictates action. Cousin to Edward VI, Mary I, and Elizabeth I, she is merely a pawn in a political and religious game in which one false step means a certain demise. But Lady Jane has remarkable qualities that help her to withstand the constant pressures of the royal machinery far better than most expect.

lady Jane Grey didn't have a chance
Revisado: 11-20-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Innocent Traitor to be better than the print version?
I had both so I cannot relate to this question .
What did you like best about this story?
The overall story is so sad and unfair for Lady Jane she had just as much right to the throne as Mary but didn't have backing. To be Queen for nine days and then be beheaded and have no say in your own destiny.that whole period was so brutal it must have been a very stressful time to live as a normal person but safer as far as keeping your head.
What about the narrators’s performance did you like?
All three performers are very good and professional.they live their parts
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
As lady jane was preparing to go to her death she was so calm and peaceful
At such a young age .
Any additional comments?
This has been one of my favorite books this year I was new to this period of British history and I was really shocked at the level of violence and intrigue.this info is so addictive.I loved this book

First time with Gregory I wasn't sure!
Revisado: 08-24-14
What did you like best about The Red Queen? What did you like least?
The main characters unbelievable faith ,every turn was a sign including the eclipse of the sun was a sign from Her God that Henry would become the King.I wanted to shake her at times but she is very reminiscent of late night TV of the arrogance of the Born Again Christains have today,it seems they never went away.
What other book might you compare The Red Queen to and why?
I do t know as this is my first historical drama novel
Which scene was your favorite?
When she met Henry Tudor after hearing about Richards death and her companion congratulated her and she rebuked her and told her to call her Margaret Regina I have just finished the Kingmakers dtr so I may have got that wrong one was in the church and one was on the battle field after Richards defeat.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Absolutely it would be good.if they had more of Henry assuming his role and what happened to Margaret and to him.i believe she died soon after he became king.It would be interesting to find out what happened to the White Queen and her elizabeth did marry Henry Vii just as she dreamed,.
Any additional comments?
I know phillipa Gregory can do what she wants with her novels but I was really surprised how many small and big facts were different in all three books that went into making the white queen Mini series.if I had the chance of a redo I would especially make amends with the actual facts.Just my simple and honest opinion.
