Slow start but interesting finish

At first I didn’t think I would enjoy this book as my first by this author. In the end it drew me in and was worth the listen.

What made the experience of listening to Darling Beast the most enjoyable?
I enjoyed the story but really disliked the narrator.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator was horrible and the fact that pheobe had a lisp was very frustrating as a listener
