Loved this book. Just bought DCS World and the F-18 Hornet then listened to this audiobook when learning the simulator plane's systems. Couldn't have made it more immersive for me both in the book and the simulator. Now I'm looking forward to flying the F-18 well enough to do the Raven One campaign!

I first listened to this a few years ago when it came out and enjoyed it. I decided to listen again in Spanish and the quality is at an equally high level. Be aware you probably need to be at a B2-C1 level and to be comfortable watching shows in Spanish without subtitles. Also be aware that the opening scene of this dramatization is one of the more difficult scenes of you at a lower level in your Spanish. Keep going and it will get easier for you when the pace lessens.

Tough to stomach the characters

Seemed like the voice actors wanted to have a "Mark Watney feel" but it came off like two gushing teenagers on an adventure in tone... Listeners should give it a try with forewarning, so I'm warning you.

Fascinating Update on Dinosaurs 2019

I hadn't followed recent discoveries in Paleontology. The last I knew was information from the 1980s and there have been a LOT of discoveries since then. This audiobook is really similar to watching a NOVA or BBC nature production, without the visuals, but with an incredible amount of new information, interspersed with interviews. I was pleased to hear information as recent as Spring, 2019. Give it a listen!

Why did I wait so long?

Something about the cover and title made me have low expectations, but I was wrong! Hilarious and intriguing, this is for anyone who loves the snark of a Harry Dresden, Mark Watney or even the comic book Spiderman. Dennis Taylor "cheats" the problem of a first person perspective in such a creative way. He's able to overcome the limitation of writing from one point of view and manages to deftly weave multiple story lines and solid characters in a way that makes me excited to move to the second book.

Outstanding Adventure ....one of my few five stars

Helldivers is a well crafted adventure story with excellent world creation, compelling characters and terrific pacing. I loved it. The dystopian world and airship setting had a slightly steampunk feel, reminding me of the first Ember novel, though that is a children's story and this isn't. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Which character – as performed by Rosario Dawson – was your favorite?

Rosario Dawson did a fantastic job with all the characters in the sense that she had believable accents for all the varied nationalities.

Andy Weir has the shown with this novel that "The Martian" was not a fluke....he has the chops to tell a terrific action story with humor, some intrigue and mystery coupled with the McGuyver factor that we have come to expect.

Outstanding History of Diving

The author's level of research was perfect for bringing the history of diving to an enjoyable level.

Love Don Winslow, but....

What made the experience of listening to Satori the most enjoyable?

Holter Graham is a great narrator.

The initial half.

Have you listened to any of Holter Graham’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Excellent. Love all of his performances, but as a CJ Box fan I was thrilled he was narrating Don Winslow.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listened to it on two long road trips and like all Don Winslow, it's easy to listen for long periods of time because of the quality of dialog and the characters.

As many have pointed out this book is a bit flawed in plot. I'd highly recommend reading the afterword FIRST to understand what Don was trying to do in honoring Trevanian.
