Historia
Lurking beneath the progressive activism and sex positivity in the 1970 to '80s, a dark undercurrent of violence rippled across the American landscape. With reported cases of sexual assault and homicide on the rise, the FBI created a specialized team - the “Mindhunters”, better known as the Behavioral Science Unit - to track down the country's most dangerous criminals. And yet narrowing down a seemingly infinite list of potential suspects seemed daunting at best and impossible at worst - until Dr. Ann Wolbert Burgess stepped on the scene.

Too Formal
Revisado: 01-08-23
Lacks emotion and the chapters are short, trying to fit in too much info in 20-30 minute segments. Rather self-indulgent. Not sure I learned anything new, even after playing chapters over and over. I respect the authors contribution to profiling and breaking the Female glass ceiling at the FBI, however I found this Audiobook to be extremely boring.

Historia
The day we met in October of 1997, I was working at the District Court in Traverse City, Michigan as a Deputy Clerk. I loved my job. It was extremely satisfying and interesting with constant interaction with all walks of life, including people on either end of the judicial spectrum and many in between. Suddenly, there he was. Tall, handsome, and looking so impressive and important in his Michigan State Police uniform with his hat, gun belt, and badge. He was extremely friendly and upbeat, smiling profusely. Best of all, he, too, was unattached. What could go wrong?

Needs Different Narratior
Revisado: 05-05-22
I’m sorry but this is the second audio book that I’ve heard by the narrator, Tanya something, that ruined the book or story for me, I’m truly sorry but this performer is just not cut out for true crime. She should stick with a different genre or subject like cooking or something happy because her reading style isn’t appropriate. Sometimes, she confuses dark narratives as bright and it’s just not right, I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be harsh, but this genre isn’t for her reading style.

Historia
In 1999, Emmon Bodfish was murdered in his home in the wealthy enclave of Orinda, California, just east of San Francisco. For the young crime-scene analyst Paul Holes, it quickly became the most bizarre and surprising case of his storied career. It was immediately clear how Emmon had died: by being hit over the head with a heavy object. What wasn’t clear was who did it and why.

Totally Swayed
Revisado: 03-12-22
This is so sad, the narrator and or story writer is completely biased, against Patsy Ramsey and uses her basic material responses against her in the worst way, since obviously if you follow this case, as Patsy is dead and cannot defend herself. I consume more true crime than I’d like to admit and therefore feel almost dirty after listening to the episodes. Any Mother on earth would have responded as she did, defend herself as she did, go insane as she did, after losing a child whose death she was not guilty of in my opinion.

Velvet Voice
Revisado: 03-04-22
I love Ron Francells descriptive writing as I feel like I’m totally there, somehow part of the true story, true experience of the tragic happenings that the victim encountered. I can almost feel it viscerally as the person it happened to did. I must admit that the performance of the narrator is probably the reason for my feeling of being there as much as the author himself.
I absolutely love the narrator, his velvety voice truly brings this story to life, as his thoughtfully poised and sort of rhythmic narration explains Ron Francells descriptive writing in an emotional way that is completely friendly yet in a distant and tragic way, much like a painting or piece of music does, to life. His voice drives the listener to really pay attention without any effort and therefore evoke a real sense of the tragedy that is behind this sad story.
If I ever have the opportunity and talent to write such beautiful yet horrific true crime story, I would absolutely, without a doubt hire the narrator of this book, as his recounting is so sublimely perfect and completely moving.
This is truly a work of art in every way. Thank you to Ron Francell for your beautiful writing and for recognizing the talent you found in the narrator and sharing his gift of narration with all of us!

Historia
Serial killer Gary Heidnik's name will live on in infamy, and his home, 3520 North Marshall Street in Philadelphia, is a house tainted with the memory of unbelievable horrors. What police found there was an incredible nightmare made real. Four young women had been held captive - some for four months - half-naked and chained. They had been tortured, starved, and repeatedly raped. But more grotesque discoveries lay in the kitchen: human limbs frozen, a torso burned to cinders, an empty pot suspiciously scorched....
