Good story with something for everyone.
Revisado: 01-28-25
Walk Me Home contained a wide range of topics and real life situations that children/teens could encounter when left too much to their own devices. Enjoyed the original ideas for working through the problems and showing lessons learned. Interesting path taken for a teenager/young adult to learn she does not know everything. We've all been there.

Historia
Never Never, a novella series. Book one of three. Best friends since they could walk. In love since the age of 14. Complete strangers since this morning. He'll do anything to remember. She'll do anything to forget. This novella is recommended for people age 16+ due to mild language and sexual content.

The idea behind the story is intriguing.

Very clever plotline. I like the story, but am quite disappointed that it's continued through two additional books. if the other two are about the same length, all three surely could have been combined into one book. Feels like the readers are being hustled. As much as I liked book one, I am not sure I'm willing to buy two more (short) books to get to an ending.

Historia
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

Had to stick with it to see if Demon would ultimately overcome.

Good story that takes its inspiration from the headlines of the last few decades - the drug problems that have decimated so many and began with over-prescribing by many medical professionals, along with the greed of major pharmaceutical companies. SPOILER ALERT: As for the book, the ending was so-so. Really wanted to see him successful in a career using his artistic talents. Wanted a more completed story for Angus...but that's just me!

Good, not great.

A little long. Parts of it really dragged. The overall story was good, but this is not a book I will recommend to friends.

Historia
Raymond Jaffe feels like he doesn’t belong. Not with his mother’s new family. Not as a weekend guest with his father and his father’s wife. Not at school, where he’s an outcast. After his best friend moves away, Raymond has only two real connections: to the feral cat he’s tamed and to a blind ninety-two-year-old woman in his building who’s introduced herself with a curious question: Have you seen Luis Velez?

One of the sweetest stories ever

Loved it. The narration was excellent, and the characters were people I'd like to invite into my home. Lots of life lessons that stay with you...about loving selflessly, being generous, showing empathy. Could not believe how quickly I was drawn to the characters and felt like I was part of their lives.
