Historia
Philippa Gregory's first story in the best-selling Wideacre trilogy. A compelling tale of passion and intrigue set in the 18th century. From the author of The Other Boleyn Girl and The Virgin's Lover. Wideacre Hall, set in the heart of the English countryside, is the ancestral home that Beatrice Lacey loves. But as a woman of the 18th century, she has no right of inheritance. Corrupted by a world that mistreats women, she sets out to corrupt others.

Sex sells...but predatory incest?
Revisado: 10-17-21
This book started off as a young girl loving her home. It went into a forbidden relationship and hidden love with a groundskeepers son. Then unneeded murder. Then...lust of her brother? This lust then turned into stalking, dreaming of sexual relations and predatory stalking. But because it's a girl, it's okay to write about.
If this was from the perspective of the older brother stalking and predatory to his sister, it would be wrong.
This book should be burned and the author should understand that predatory incest aren't wonderful things to write about, but is normalizing, even glorifying something that has haunted many people. I am disgusted by this book, and am horrified that it was even published. I will never be reading, buying or listening to another Philippa Gregory book.

Historia
The year 1996 was the one that changed everything for Maggie Dawes. Sent away at 16 to live with an aunt she barely knew in Ocracoke, a remote village on North Carolina’s Outer Banks, she could think only of the friends and family she left behind...until she met Bryce Trickett, one of the few teenagers on the island. Handsome, genuine, and newly admitted to West Point, Bryce showed her how much there was to love about the wind-swept beach town - and introduced her to photography, a passion that would define the rest of her life. By 2019, Maggie is a renowned travel photographer.

Revisado: 01-29-19
This book pulls you in, through the diary format you learn the intricacies about Nisha and her family. You follow them from the boring day to day life of a child in India. Then the unthinkable happens, India and Pakistan separate, forcing Nisha's family to have to move from Pakistan to the new now smaller India. Their journey is rough, the twists in the story make you want to reach out and save Nisha's family. The narrator pulls you in closer and you're right there in the plot twists and turns. You can feel the thirst from running out of the water, you can feel how while it's the rainy season there is no rain. Then the clouds opened up. You can feel the fear when her father discovers Nisha talks to a neighbor in their safe place of their uncle's house. The fear that drives them to keep moving, find the train and save his family. The second part of their journey is just as hard as the first, fearing for their lives on the train. Your emotions well back up and you want to physically help again.
The ending didn't go how I was expecting, which is good considering how it felt it would end. This book is so real, it's feelings so raw and really it's fantastic.

Historia
In this contemporary story, Tash lives in Tibet, where as a practicing Buddhist she must follow many rules to avoid the wrath of the occupying Chinese soldiers. Lately, things have been relatively peaceful, as long as Tash and her family hide their religion and don't mention its leader, the Dalai Lama. Then a man publicly sets himself on fire in protest. Soldiers seize Tash's parents. She narrowly escapes, and soon she and her best friend, Sam, along with two borrowed yaks, flee across the mountains, where they face blizzards, hunger, a treacherous landscape, and the threat of capture.

Revisado: 11-09-18
This book is so captivating. From every twist in the plot and unexpected event, it holds your attention. You get to know the characters and feel so deeply their emotions. This is an incredible book and detailed history of the real things that are happening in Tibet. Those hard parts, that get forgotten about by Western cultures. This book is just incredible and we found ourselves drive just another ten minutes while listening as we just didn't want to turn it off.
