I am a big fan of audiobooks as I rarely have time to sit down for leisure reading. I've listened to some mediocre books salvaged by a great narrator and some incredible books almost ruined by a terrible narrator. I've even listened to some books where both elements were good but the narrator's voice didn't feel right for the story. The Goldilocks zone is where the content and narrator play together in a lovely harmony. Which is what happens here.

Eden's Guest is not a dark and creepy story with tons of tension. It's a refreshing imaginative story that dares to wonder what life would be like if there had never been a fall. The characters are likable, Carter the charming Bible college professor and Euphony, the songwriter from a perfect world struggling to find words than haven't already been sung. The pacing is good and the story keeps you listening but what really makes it all come together is just imagining a world that isn't filled with the depravity and pain we see around us everyday. That alone makes it worth listening to. Give yourself a break from dark and dreary.

Tyler Robbert (great first name. But I had it first so he needs to back off :-p) has an excellent voice and his reading is smooth. The audio is crisp and clean and sounds well produced. His voice is easy to listen to. Additionally he does three things well: 1. He adds just enough vocal changes for different characters to make listening more enjoyable. 2. He reads with the emotion each scene should logically have. 3. He actually sings some songs in the story well. All in all, impressive.
