Historia
Beckett: If you’re reading this, well, you know the last-letter drill. You made it. I didn’t. Get off the guilt train, because I know if there was any chance you could have saved me, you would have. I need one thing from you: get out of the army and get to Telluride. My little sister Ella’s raising the twins alone. She’s too independent and won’t accept help easily, but she has lost our grandmother, our parents, and now me. It’s too much for anyone to endure. And here’s the kicker: there’s something else you don’t know that’s tearing her family apart.

What’s not to love about an English Christmas story? Reminiscent of Ground Hog Day, but so much better.

Historia
Daisy is a girl coming of age in LA in the late '60s, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s 20, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things. Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne.

The Kingsley family is American royalty, beloved for their military heroics, political service, and unmatched elegance. In 1967, after Joseph S. Kingsley, Jr. is killed in a tragic accident, his charismatic son inherits the weight of that legacy. But Joe III is a free spirit—and a little bit reckless. A great summer read!
Revisado: 06-29-22
Where were you when JFK Jr's plane went down in 1999? I was in the throws of planning my daughter Kathleen's second birthday party when on the morning of July 17, my college roommate, Lisa, called me and told me that his plane was missing near Martha's Vineyard as he was traveling there with his wife, Carolyn, and her sister, Lauren, for his cousin's wedding. In shock and not believing it to be true, I quickly turned on the news to find it was all over the television. I mean Lisa and I lived together after college and in our apartment in New Jersey, we had a small extra bedroom that we dubbed "the John-John room" and had a few framed photos of him in it, so how could this be? He was invincible and so young. It just couldn't be true. Like the author, I had worked in publishing in NYC and was always hoping to meet him or his famous mother, who also worked in publishing, on the streets of New York or at a book party. Sadly that never came to be.
Emily Giffin says in her author's note that the characters of this book, Joe Kingsley and Cate Cooper, are a work of fiction, but all the similarities are there and I was hooked after the first chapter. Joe's father, a famous astronaut, died when he was three; his famous mother was loved by the nation; Joe goes to work in the district attorney's office after he fails the bar twice. Cate had a short-lived modeling career, then goes on to work for a famous designer, and the two meet on the beach as she is doing a photo shoot. Much to Cate's delight, Joe takes an interest in her and they begin dating, although secretly because she is uncomfortable with all the press that follows Joe. See the similarities? Anyway, if you were ever a fan of JFK Jr. as Lisa and I were, you will definitely enjoy this book. Thank you, Emily, for taking me back to my younger days and telling the story of what could have been.

It’s officially booty o’clock, I’m alone again in my kitchen choking down a slice of terrible chocolate cake…and I’m pretty sure I just got drunk texted by the man I have a ginormous crush on. I’ve been daydreaming about Eliot Hoffman’s dimples for two months, and even though I’m sure this was a mistake on his end, it doesn’t mean it’s not an opportunity on mine. It’s the middle of the night, and I just wanna talk to him. So I text him back.

A cute Christmas romance
Revisado: 11-08-20
This book is adorable. I thought the concept of the twelve dates was original and fun. A bit predictable, but I enjoyed all the characters. And I love a good English Christmas romance! The narrator was so pleasant to listen to. I would love to read a sequel!

Interesting love story
Revisado: 06-01-20
At first I wasn’t sure about I liked the story going back and forth between asleep and awake. But as the story continued I enjoyed Lydia’s visits with Freddie, her dead fiancée, while she was asleep, as much as I liked the story of her life while she was awake. Her mom and sister support her as she copes with the death of Freddie. She also finds comfort with Freddie’s best friend, Jonah, and the two become closer as they both cope with Freddie’s loss. I downloaded this on Audible and the narrator was so pleasant to listen to. A cute story of love lost and found.

A cute romance!
Revisado: 01-13-20
I’ve been drawn to quite a few books lately that take place in London. This is a cute story of Jess and Alex who meet when they each rent a room from a mutual friend in Notting Hill. Jess is new to London so Alex shows her around and they become good friends while walking and talking their way through London. They start to have feelings for one another, but one of the rules of the house is no romances between roommates. Well you may guess what happens, but there are some bumps along the way. A great escape in the car and a pleasant listen!
