Historia
Frank W. Abagnale, alias Frank Williams, Robert Conrad, Frank Adams, and Robert Monjo, was one of the most daring con men, forgers, imposters, and escape artists in history. In his brief but notorious criminal career, Abagnale donned a pilot's uniform and copiloted a Pan Am jet, masqueraded as the supervising resident of a hospital, practiced law without a license, passed himself off as a college sociology professor, and cashed over $2.5 million in forged checks, all before he was twenty-one.

Moxie at its finest
Revisado: 09-05-24
Not a boring moment and while Frank is no saint what he said about the French prisons is true.
They were some of the most discusting and inhumane of prisons imaginable.
Overcrowding is still a problem but they used to keep people in complete isolation for years in dark tiny cells, with no facilities, nothing but a cold concrete floor. And I am shocked that this was the case just 2 short decades ago.
Great book.

Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

Future VP ? Hopefully
Revisado: 07-17-24
JD Vance wrote with extreme honesty and humility. This is the first time I have ever read a book that described a candidate's character in full, before he was even chosen to be a running mate for VP of the USA.
The story rang true not just for residents of the Appellations but for all of us..

Elephant Company
Excellent Book and Wonderful Story, and it really happened.
If I could encourage anyone that is going through a difficult time, I would say read or listen to this book.
Everyone goes through a difficult time in their life at some point, but hope and miracles really do happen when the human spirit rises up and goes even beyond what they believe is possible.
This book dives deep into the animal world, the human world, and a spiritual connection that changed lives and saved lives during one of the worst wars that the world has ever experienced.
Brilliant book and an important read.

Once in a great while a writer comes along who can truly capture the drama and passion of the life of a family. David James Duncan, author of the novel The River Why and the collection River Teeth, is just such a writer. And in The Brothers K he tells a story both striking and in its originality and poignant in its universality.

Love long books especially ones written by this author. He has this ability to make you believe every word with great interest because he writes with humor, passion, pain, and hope. I wish he had dozens of books available.

Loved it. What can I say. The narrator sounded a bit like Tim Allen with all his built in humor and voice inflection, but it was actually the multitalented artist Wil Wheaton who did an excellent job on the narration.
Our planet needs more books like this.

Historia
If my childhood taught me anything, it was to survive. Now I have a deep-rooted mistrust of people and a wall of steel and ice surrounding my heart. So, when Reed Ryan steps into my life, I know I need to keep him far away. He’s everything I grew up hating. Fighting. Fleeing. Devastatingly handsome, he looks like a drunken regret and has heartbreak written over every inch of his body - literally. He’s the quintessential bad boy...and he’s a cop. But the man is my undoing.

Rarely do I break up with a book
Revisado: 02-23-24
Believe me I really tried to like this book but the same theme, words, and dialog,,repeated over and over again to the point I had to return it. Where was the carrot that good authors plant somewhere in the beginning?
Never mind it turned out to be celery.
Even hopeless stories can be written in an interesting way right?
Sorry Molly, Not this time, Everything I listened to was just a guessing game with the same characters who forgot they were supposed to be in a book. Possibly, the interesting part began after hour 9, or it started at the end?
I am disappointed..

Historia
When this best-selling autobiography was originally released, everyone was shocked: The Long Hard Road Out of Hell was the darkest, funniest, most controversial and best-selling rock book of its time - and it became the template, both visually and narratively, for almost every rock book since. Marilyn Manson is not just a music icon, it turned out, but one of the best storytellers of his generation.

Hell never Ended
Revisado: 08-05-23
I really wanted to like this book as I have always enjoyed heavy metal. But the title should have been,
"Never Made It Out of Hell".
If this is his true story or based on his life, it was absolutely disgusting and hopeless. The book started out pretty good
but the depravity of his life and band(s) on the road, especially during the after parties, were a complete nightmare.
Their sexual treatment of girls (willing or not) was noting short of exploitation, spreading their version of Hell to everyone involved. If Marilyn Manson came out of the hell he described, he forgot to put it in this book.
I know people who have met him and they tell me that he is very nice in person. So would it have been so difficult to at least add an additional chapter or an epilogue which wasn't just more of the same?

Just too sad
Revisado: 05-08-23
Message in a bottle was well written and the narrator, Kimberly Schraf is one of the best in the business. As much as I enjoyed the talent, the story was just too sad. I recommend that for anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one, be careful in choosing this book. I didn't find hope or encouragement anywhere as I absorbed the words and the scenes which played out in my mind.

Revisado: 04-15-23
Compassionate and brilliant book by someone who has worked with this problem for many years. Offers some real solutions too if people would quit making political warfare out of every serious issue .
The real problem here seems to be the activists who will be out of the sign making business if only they would leave their hopelessness at home.

Revisado: 09-27-22
I wanted to enjoy this story but unless you want to be depressed and disgusted, do not buy this audible. Why would an obviously talented writer submit a book that negated all common sense?
Overall it seemed to me she wrote two separate books and jammed them together to meet a deadline . I love to write great and complimentary reviews about good books. Sadly this is not in that category. I don't even have a clue why a publisher would let this one through instead of protecting their author.
What a shame.
