Atlanta was always a dangerous city. Now, as waves of magic and technology compete for supremacy, it’s a place caught in a slow apocalypse, where monsters spawn among the crumbling skyscrapers and supernatural factions struggle for power and survival. Eight years ago, Julie Lennart left Atlanta to find out who she was. Dubiously considering how this one landed
Revisado: 09-22-22
The continuation of a world with the expansion of a peripheral character is always a gamble. I can't decide if this jumped the shark or not. I have to reflect on it a while. I consumed this book through the audio format and it was incredibly jarring to have the new narrator summarily stomp on name pronunciations over and over again. This character doesn't have Kate's mettle to temper Kate's melancholy, she ends up sounding whiny and more than one I wanted to shake her and demand she have real truthful conversations w/ her fellow characters for both clarity and purpose.
It absolutely could be done without messing up the directive of the plot. IDK, I will reserve judgement and wait to see how it goes in the next installment I guess but I didn't love it.

Historia
Sarah Dove is no ordinary bookworm. To her, books live, breathe, and sometimes even speak. As the librarian in her quaint Southern town of Dove Pond, her gift helps place every book in the hands of the perfect reader. Recently, however, the books have been whispering about something out of the ordinary: the arrival of a displaced city girl named Grace Wheeler. If the books are right, Grace could be the savior Dove Pond desperately needs.

Strong story awesome narrator.
Revisado: 10-21-19
I found this story because I love Amanda Ronconi. I stayed because the story while tedious in parts mirrors my life at the moment. I loved this book because it spoke to me. I’m in the middle of losing my difficult mother to a miserable disease. While the circumstances aren’t the same I saw enough of my life in it I laughed as much as I cried. Thank you for this book it was a balm in ways I can’t ever express.

The devil is in the details...
Revisado: 11-05-18
I’ve now read all of the bluegrass books. All. Of. Them. The timeline is all over the place. It drives me bonkers! I love the storyline. I love the characters. I can’t wait to meet the rest of the family in the shadow series and I’m looking forward to the rest of the bluegrass family and thank god for a big family and more branches to shake.

Kate, a former investigator for the Anchorage D.A. and now a P.I. for hire, is missing after a winter spent in mourning. Alaska State Trooper Jim Chopin, Kate's best friend, needs her to help him work a new case. He discovers her hiding out in Bering, a small fishing village on Alaska's western coast, living and working under an assumed name-- working hard, as eighteen-hour workdays seem to be her only justification for getting up in the morning.
