🎧⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I almost always listen to a book after I’ve read it and that’s what I did with Unexpected Hero. Listening to Aaron Shedlock and Kelsey Navarro Foster narrate this story was unbelievable. Aaron brought Tomer to life nailing his nearly emotionless tone but also the more tender or commanding tone he used with Lettie.

Kelsey was Lettie with all of her snarky, bratty, vulnerable voices. I loved how she was able to guide Lettie’s southern accent in the hillbilly voice that came out when Lettie was stressed or angry.

One of the reasons I listen to a book after reading it is so I can catch things I might have missed when reading. But I also like to hear the tone of voice, the emotions. It helps bring the characters to life. And these narrators did a good job of delivering on my expectations. I can’t wait to listen to Unexpected Heroine and Unexpected Redemption!!

Tomer is the computer genius behind the scenes of Redleg Security. He knows where everyone is and guides their missions behind the safety of his computer screens. He has a secret life no knows about.

Lettie just lost her grandfather who she grew up thinking is her father. On his deathbed he confesses that he and her mother are really her mother’s parents and they are her grandparents. They are very religious and she grows up believing anything sexual is a sin.

Jackie Walker does a good job of building these characters and makes us care about and love them. If you’ve read Rival Hero you know who Lettie is. If you haven’t read it, I’m not giving any spoilers!!

This is a story of personal awakening and the love of two lost souls. This book ends in a cliffhanger, but the next book is just weeks away. While this can be read as a stand-alone, I recommend reading the series starting with Heartbreak Hero.

This is a 5 star plus read that I recommend adding to the top of your TBR!!

Action, suspense, and steam!

Jacob Morgan and Ava Lucas brought Rival Hero to life with their excellent narration skills. Jacob as Shep was perfect, adapting Shep’s laid-back personality and his take-charge alpha growl in the bedroom. He also captured Shep’s British-sounding conscience perfectly and I laughed every time he surfaced. Ava as Kri was also excellent at voicing Kri’s tough-as-nails, badass personality, but also her softer voice when she talked to Valerie and her friends. If you’re a fan of audio books I recommend you listen to this one!

Shep and Kri have been co-workers and friends for a long time. Shep has always wanted more but Kri has a hard and fast “no dating co-workers” rule that she won’t break, even for him. When Kri is brutally attacked while protecting a client, Shep never leaves her side during the weeks she’s hospitalized, he also realizes he’s falling in love with her! Shep takes her to his house to recuperate and as they grow closer, he tries harder to convince her they belong together. But Kri won’t give in to him, no matter how much their attraction grows.

Kri has rules for a reason. All her life she’s been rejected and hurt by those she loved the most. When her grandfather died, she felt completely alone and unloved. When the one relationship she had while she was in Afghanistan ended, she was treated badly by the rest of the platoon tried to take advantage of her, thinking she was “easy” and it ruined her reputation. This experience made her determined to never have a relationship with a co-worker again. No one has come close to making her break that rule until Shep.

When a young girl’s (Valerie) parents and aunt are murdered, Redleg becomes involved in finding who and why they were murdered. Shep & Kri take her into protective custody, and she moves into Shep's house with them. As they get closer to finding out what happened, it’s clear that someone is also after Val. While Shep & Kri grow closer, and Val becomes part of the family, they work harder to find the danger and get drawn into more intrigue.

This story is full of suspense and takes you in directions you didn’t see coming. And the steam growing between Shep and Kri will keep you listening to find out what happens!
This is the third book in the Redleg Security series, and I loved it!

Beautiful story very well narrated

Great narrators for a great book

Steven Dexter and Vanessa Edwin do a terrific job of bringing Dex and Nora to life. They both brought the right tempo and voiced the characters feelings in a way that made me feel like I was listening to Dex and Nora.

I read the book before listening to it and I picked up on things I missed when I read it. Loved the story and the narration.

Sexual, sensuous healing

Elodie Heart has written a beautiful story about how a grieving widower with 2 young, grieving daughters can be brought back to life by a beautiful 23 year old woman.

The narrators brought all of the emotion, need, desire, and love to life. I loved this story when I read it, I loved it more after listening to it.
