Best autobiography I have ever read or listened to! Engaging to the very end, not a story about how to do business but a very practical lesson that it is the people you meet, work with, and live with that make life fulfilling.

This reading was so dry I thought I was back in my high school social studies class. While I knew the story of the explorers from school I was hoping that this book would expand my understanding of the times. Sadly, this was not so. All I learned was that pepper became a commodity and a lot of people got syphilis.

A fantastic piece of historic fiction. Anyone interested in the Ancient Roman Empire will love this book. The author's painstaking detail and accuracy give an insight to this time as no other boring history book does. I didn't find all the names boring at all and the vivid descriptions of Rome at the time bring the city to life.

It makes the book long and tedious with many dates and an impossible amount of names to remember.
