Historia
Andi McConnell and her "limouzeen" are back—can murder be far behind? Actually, Andi's life seems more or less normal at the moment. Her limousine business is chugging along. Her relationship with former TV detective "Fitz" Fitzpatrick is comfortable. She's growing in her relationship with the Lord. Although there are a few peculiarities. The odd new renter in her duplex. Unlikely changes in grumpy, nosy neighbor Tom now that he has a girlfriend. The girlfriend's questionable "helper". But the limo can't avoid its "magnet for murder" reputation—because there is that dead body.

I love the spiritual depth in this cozy!
Revisado: 06-28-22
It is unusual for a cozy mystery author to be brave enough to tackle tough spiritual questions, but Lorena McCourtney really dives in in this book! I found the mystery quite compelling though the ending was slightly unsatisfying, but the questions about God and spirituality that Andi and her friends ask throughout this book made this a really strong novel that I thoroughly enjoyed! I am really hoping for more books in this series because I need to know where Andi and Fitz go from here, not to mention India and Matt. And please, please, please bring back Joella!!!

Historia
Andi McConnell and her limousine are back! The occasion is the "wedding of the century" at a local estate, and Andi has a five-day, live-in gig transporting the wedding party and Hollywood guests. There's the groom with cell phone welded to his ear. The bride who suspects she'll be murdered at the ceremony. The over-the-hill, movie star stepmother with an ambitious agenda of her own, plus blackmail, betrayal, and enough hot hostility and competition to melt that life-sized sculpture of the bride and groom.

Loved this second Andi adventure!
Revisado: 06-26-22
This was an excellent second installment in this series! The mystery was well-thought out, keeping me guessing and interested the whole time. I loved the characters and especially the deepening of Andi’s faith. It felt very natural and real the way she is growing in her faith and taking halting steps at sharing it with others. The only disappointment for me was that I was expecting Joella and the baby to still be around and play a big role in this series. Not a deal-breaker but I missed them.

Historia
Downsized from her job. Dumped by her boyfriend. Depressed about that upcoming 60th birthday. Not a good week for Andi McConnell. But now there's good news: She's just inherited a limousine, a long, sleek, black limousine, from an eccentric uncle. There's also bad news: The dead body that soon turns up in the trunk. And Andi is the top suspect in the murder. Enter Keegan "Fitz" Fitzpatrick, former TV detective, very interested in the case - and in Andi.

Everything I look for in a Christian cozy mystery!
Revisado: 04-11-22
I thoroughly enjoyed this fresh and funny beginning to a new mystery series. The characters were thoroughly relatable, quirky, and fun - the kind of people you really wish were your next-door neighbors so you could be best friends. The mystery was quite puzzling. And I loved the spiritual journey of the main character and how it was spurred on by her sweet, slightly mysterious, and totally lovable best friend/next-door neighbor/daughter figure. I loved that while it was cozy, the book never felt trite or formulaic. The secondary characters weren't flat and there were some good storylines besides the mystery. I am so excited to read more in this series! It is everything I look for in a Christian cozy mystery!

Well-written and performed but not my cup of tea
Revisado: 06-06-21
Tessa Afshar can always be counted on for strong female characters and good Biblical and historical research. I was excited to read this book after reading Bread of Angels since these characters show up there after the events of this book and I already loved them. I wanted to know their backstory. But I quickly became bogged down in what felt to me an unbelievable number of bad things happening to Elianna. This book reminded me of a Karen Kingsbury book so if you like her writing and enjoy Biblical fiction, you will probably love this book. Sadly, it wasn't something I enjoyed. There was far too much sadness and despair and Yeshua/Jesus didn't come on the scene nearly soon enough in this book for my liking. I guess it was good to experience the waiting and longing for the Messiah in this way.

Purple. The foundation of an influential trade in a Roman world dominated by men. One woman rises up to take the reins of success in an incredible journey of courage, grit, and friendship. And along the way, she changes the world. But before she was Lydia, the seller of purple, she was simply a merchant's daughter who loved three things: her father, her ancestral home, and making dye. Then unbearable betrayal robs her of nearly everything.

So encouraging to live out my faith even more
Revisado: 06-06-21
While I usually don't enjoy Biblical fiction where the main character is an actual historical person as much as when they are entirely fictional and just interact with real people, this book is a unique exception for me. I absolutely loved this book about Lydia! Perhaps because we know so little about her, I really enjoyed this backstory and the trips I was able to make vicariously with her around the Roman empire. I loved meeting other early believers and found myself encouraged to live out my faith with acts of generosity even more than I currently do. Highly recommend!!

Historia
Hope Harbor Police Chief Lexie Graham has plenty on her plate raising her son alone and dealing with a sudden rash of petty theft and vandalism in her coastal Oregon hometown. As a result, she has zero time for extracurricular activities - including romance. Ex-con Adam Stone isn't looking for love either - but how ironic is it that the first woman to catch his eye is a police chief? Yet wishing for things that can never be is foolish.

Absolutely loved everything about this book!
Revisado: 04-05-20
I have thoroughly enjoyed every visit I've made to Hope Harbor, and this may have been the best yet! I am a total sucker for a good redemption story and for those who have never been loved finding love and this story hits all those spots and more. I absolutely loved everything about it. I loved the slow reveal of Lexie's history and how she began to find healing in this story. I loved Adam most of all with his humility and complete openness to the transforming work of God in his life. The ways he was used to touch and bless so many in this community I've come to love were told so well, and I was so encouraged by the ways God uses everything in our lives that we are willing to give Him access to. Highly recommend all of the Hope Harbor books and this one in particular.

Historia
In 1944, American naval officer Lt. Wyatt Paxton arrives in London to prepare for the Allied invasion of France. He works closely with Dorothy Fairfax, a "Wren" in the Women's Royal Naval Service. Dorothy pieces together reconnaissance photographs with thousands of holiday snapshots of France - including those of her own family's summer home - in order to create accurate maps of Normandy. Maps that Wyatt will turn into naval bombardment plans. As the two spend concentrated time together in the pressure cooker of war, their deepening friendship threatens to turn to love.

Narrator nailed the accents!
Revisado: 04-05-20
I loved this book! I especially loved the relationship between Wyatt and Dorothy's father. I appreciated how hard Wyatt fought to help Dorothy and her father. I really liked the parts with Dorothy's best friend Johanna. The narrator, Sarah Zimmerman, did an excellent job with their accents, even when they were trying and failing to copy each other's accents, while still using their own. I definitely recommend this book, and I am looking forward to reading the next one in the series, The Sky Above Us, when I have a chance.

Action-packed and fun, but a little too much for me at times
Revisado: 04-01-20
While I enjoyed this action-packed story, there were a few things I did not enjoy. I never really came to like Emily, the main female character. I was really only rooting for her because I liked the main guy and he liked her so there was that. The other thing is that there are several scenes and descriptions of rape and near-rape that I found very disturbing that I think would prove to be triggers for some people so I want to put that caution out there. I listened to this book through Audible Escape; it is possible these scenes were more disturbing in audio form than they would be in print. I did enjoy the depictions of the Bow Street officers, especially the main character Nicholas, and I think that was my favorite part of the story.

Good story but several things really detracted
Revisado: 02-27-20
I want to start by saying that I hated the prologue for this book so much. I rarely have strong feelings about a prologue, but I almost stopped reading the book because of this one. It was totally and completely a huge spoiler for the story and really ruined a lot of the story for me. So that was a star off right from the get-go.
This is the first Becky Wade book I've read, and I actually listened to it through Audible Escape. While there were things I didn't like about the main characters, Dru and Gray, I did find myself caring about them and wanting to know their story and wanting them to find healing and happiness together so all in all, I have to say, I did enjoy the book.
I didn't realize this book was part of a series when I started it, and to be honest, Dru and Gray's story worked just fine as a stand-alone. But I personally found it really annoying when the book kept jumping to other characters I didn't know and didn't care about that weren't part of the story I was reading. I get that I would probably feel very differently about that experience had I read the series in order because I probably would have cared about those people and wanted to know how they were doing, but I didn't know them and didn't care about them, and this book didn't change that at all. I still don't care about them and wish they hadn't intruded on the story I was reading as they added nothing to my experience or this particular story. I think even if I had read the previous books in the series, I would have preferred if this book stayed with Dru and Gray's viewpoints and had checked in with previous characters from Dru and Gray's viewpoints only. I just really didn't like the chapters from other people's perspectives. It made the story feel very disjointed and a little soap-opera-ish to me.
As for the narrator, I didn't love the accents she added to certain people or some of her intonations, but she was fine. Not great, but not overly annoying either.
