Simple Fantastic
Revisado: 03-25-14
If you're like me, you're not a fan of zombie books, vampire books or anything that even remotely smacks of the supernatural - and the entire premise of this book would appear to be unappealing. Au contraire. This book just rocks.
The characters are wonderful, in particular the main character, Angel. This book is much more about Angel's redemption and her personal growth than it is about zombies, though the zombie bits are (much to my surprise) very well done and interesting.
This book is simply amazing. It's warm, it's funny, and you won't want it to end. The worst thing about it is that there are only a few sequels. There must be more!
Special kudos to Allison McLemore for a brilliant reading. There are a very few narrators who I seek out and buy books just because they did the performance. Allison is now in that group. Just wonderful.
Buy this book. You will be surprised and you will not be disappointed.

Historia
Quarry doesn't kill just anybody these days. He restricts himself to targeting other hitmen, availing his marked-for-death clients of two services: eliminating the killers sent after them, and finding out who hired them…and then removing that problem as well. So far he's rid of the world of nobody who would be missed. But this time he finds himself zeroing in on the grieving family of a missing cheerleader. Does the hitman's hitman have the wrong quarry in his sights?

Quarry is always worth it
Revisado: 01-24-14
It's always great to see a new Quarry. The Quarry books are dark, different - and always a lot of fun. Quarry is an assassin with a good side - which sounds entirely odd, but works very, very well.
In this book, he's changed his job a bit and rather than being a killer for hire, he's stalking them. You'll be guessing right up to the end.
Dan John Miller does a fantastic job, as he has done with all of the Max Allan Collin books.

With the help of his 21-year-old trailblazing grandmother and her friends, he finds his place in a world he knew only from movies and books.

The mine is an excellent story, well worth the money. The author was new to me, and I'm very happy that I took the chance - I loved the book and look forward to the sequels being released on audible!

Historia
Cent has a secret. She lives in isolation, with her parents, hiding from the people who took her father captive and tortured him to gain control over his ability to teleport, and from the government agencies who want to use his talent. Cent has seen the world, but only from the safety of her parents' arms. She's teleported more than anyone on Earth, except for her mother and father, but she's never been able to do it herself. Her life has never been in danger. Until the day when she went snowboarding without permission and triggered an avalanche. When the snow and ice thundered down on her, she suddenly found herself in her own bedroom.

Fantastic
Revisado: 04-10-13
What made the experience of listening to Impulse the most enjoyable?
Impulse is a return to the universe of Jumper and Reflex. Jumper is a favorite book of mine and I really enjoyed impulse as well. It was fantastic to meet these characters again - and to meet a new one, Cent, who I think is the strongest of the bunch.
This book is funny, exciting, well written and well narrated. Emily Rankin does a stellar job bringing the characters to life, most especially Cent.
Highly recommended.
What other book might you compare Impulse to and why?
Reflex and Jumper
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Much better than Jumper.

Historia
When 14-year-old Mattie Sullivan asks Spenser to look into her mother’s murder, he’s not completely convinced by her claim that the police investigation four years ago was botched. Mattie is gruff, street-smart, and wise beyond her years, left to care for her younger siblings and an alcoholic grandmother in a dilapidated apartment in South Boston. But her need for closure and her determination to make things right hit Spenser where he lives - they’re the very characteristics he abides by.

Shockingly good
Revisado: 05-28-12
If you could sum up Robert B. Parker's Lullaby in three words, what would they be?
Spenser walks again.
Any additional comments?
I've been a Spenser fan for 20 years and never expected anyone to be able pick up the characters and continue with the series, but Ace Atkins has done a simply masterful job with it. An excellent novel and, more to the point, an excellent *Spenser* novel.
