C- but real close to being a D

Demint is my senator. I have been pleased with his record as senator and feel we need more conservatives in office. Now, what do I think of the book?
It begins with a bitter tone and Demint has nothing good to say about anybody. It picks up after a while and the history of socialism in the US is interesting. Demint tends to oversimplify many social issues and some of his logic just doesn't add up. He provides some interesting stories about himself and blends them in well with the subject matter.
He references everyone from the three little pigs to Sir Thomas Aquinas. Enduring a complete retelling of the plot to It's a Wonderful Life and The Ginger Bread Man (just to name a few) is brutal. It's lazy writing and it becomes tiresome. By the time he gets to the section where he should motivate all good conservatives to take action; the book has went on much too long and lost its momentum.

Some good advice, but not much

Total
2 out of 5 stars

She displays a lack of regard for the time and attention of the reader by including too many mundane thoughts.
The stories she uses as examples are boring and conveyed in a monotone voice.
I found some of the information helpful, but consider her advice best suited for people who write for a hobby and not for a living.
She spends a good bit of time on meditation and such. If you need a book on how to meditate, choose another. This book is more likely to put you into a deep sleep.

Wow! Grisham is really lousy at narration

Revisado: 03-29-10

When I read the other reviews I thought, How bad can the narration be?
Wow, he is terrible. It is distracting from the stories. The stories are disappointing too.
They aren't as bad as the narration, though. Did I mention the narration is really bad?
Don't buy the book just to find out how bad.
Fans of Grisham are going to buy the book, anyway. That's the only reason I did.
I've read a couple of books by Grisham that I didn't think were as good as other books by Grisham.
This is the first time I have regretted spending the money to buy a Grisham book and wished I had purchased something different.

Interesting and Insightful

I was surprised that this book held my interest in each section. It is an objective telling of what went on behind the scenes of the campaigns. It reveals the human side of the candidates in a nonpartisan way.

My second favorite book of 2009

A compelling and original story. I hated to have it end.
I had heard a good bit of hype about this book and was pleasantly surprised that it lived up to the acclaim.

No new information

I had heard everything in the book before. She complains about how she was treated in the media and how she was treated by the McCain campaign and then how badly she was treated when she returned to Alaska. She again tries to make her decision to resign as governor sound heroic.
For me - I was never a fan of Gov. Palin - it did nothing to change my opinion.

Very well written. I was motivated by the examples given and feel I have a better understanding of 21 century commerce. I will try to use what I learned to improve my business.

Hot, Flat, and Crowded Audiolibro Por Thomas L. Friedman arte de portada

Redundant and poorly written

Total
1 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 11-16-09

This book is an example of what happens when a writer ignores the advise given by Will Strunk Jr. in Elements of Style; "Omit needless words." I endured the poor writing, hoping there would be some useful information buried within. I found no new information on the subject of climate change. The book is a rant against previous US administrations and then suggest government regulations are needed to avoid catastrophe. It then suggest too many government regulations will restrict progress of alternative energy.
