Eye opening and difficult
Revisado: 11-21-22
This book was extremely helpful. It is a resource that is had to come by these days, for people caught between a church that wants to pretend these problems don't exist, and a secular world that advocates embracing every impulse.
I think this book is essential reading for everyone who was raised in church. It helps to identify baggage and dysfunction that may be hard to name, for those who feel like they came from a good background and don't know why their coping behaviors are so out of hand.

Economics can explain everything, from why people behave the way they do to how governments and businesses organize themselves. As the blockbuster best-seller Freakonomics demonstrated, economics can explain everything - from why people behave the way they do to how governments and businesses organize themselves. But are the basic assumptions and conclusions in Freakonomics true? Does the free market usually lead to unintended and negative consequences?

I loved Freakonomics, and this rebuttal was no less interesting. More openly political, but still relevant and informative.

Historia
"Luke Volume II", often called "The Acts of the Apostles", completes the "Pentateuch of the New Testament". The traditional title of this book is, in some respects, a misnomer: It primarily deals with the "acts" of Peter and Paul. It really should be called "The Acts of the Holy Spirit". This review will explore the continuing mysteries of Hag Shavuot in Acts 2; the surprises in the history lesson Stephen gives the Sanhedrin in Acts 7; the controversies dealt with in the Council of Jerusalem in Acts 15; and more.

Chuck Missler is very knowledgeable and I wish he'd edited this series to be more dense on information and/or lighter on repetition.

Historia
For 30 years, Lynn Wilder, once a tenured faculty member at Brigham Young University, and her family lived in, loved, and promoted the Mormon Church. Then, their son Micah, serving his Mormon mission in Florida, had a revelation: God knew him personally. God loved him. And the Mormon Church did not offer the true gospel. As Lynn tells her story of abandoning the deception of Mormonism to receive God's grace, she gives a rare look into Mormon culture, what it means to grow up Mormon, and why the contrasts between Mormonism and Christianity make all the difference in the world.

i first encountered her son's story on youtube and I have to say his storytelling is more engaging, which is why I didn't give this 5 stars. Otherwise it was wonderful to experience this family's story.

Probably the most natural speaker of King James

James Earl Jones speaks King James English more smoothly and naturally than anyone else I've ever heard. If you're interested in a King James bible but not sure about the thick language, this is the guy for you.

Basic but vital information
Revisado: 11-03-18
Most of us already know how to be healthy: eat more fruits and vegetables, and get some exercise. And most of us have fallen short in these areas. This book is a very motivating and systematic approach to these basic, science-based health concepts. Get a juicer and a blender and start fueling your body with juices, salads and smoothies. I look forward to using these methods to create vibrant health for myself in a way I never have before, as I recover from leukemia.

Historia
Listen to the New Testament (NKJV) read in its entirety by music legend Johnny Cash. After 20 years of encouragement from his mother to record the Bible, he approached the recording of the New Testament with "fear, respect, awe, and reverence for the subject matter." Cash added, "I also did it with a great deal of joy, because I love the Word." Enjoy listening to one of the most distinctive voices of our time in this wonderful audio edition of the Word of God.

I usually prefer King James for listening because of its colorful language, but Cash brought emotion and depth that really brought the text to life very personally.
