Revisado: 09-21-19
Good storyline but he tended to babble. And then thinking out loud got confusing and that just added to the more babbling.. I finished the book but I was almost frustrated enough that I didn’t.

Would it be better with a different narrator ?
Revisado: 07-21-19
I was excited to start this new series.. HOWEVER the guy narrating it, J. Rodney Turner puts me to sleep. Don't get me wrong he has a great voice but it's way too slow. I wonder if I was listening to a Louis L’Amour book it would be better. I assume John Stonehouse wanted a country sounding narrator to go with his new hero but he may have gone a little too far. I was a Motor Officer in Austin for 11 out of my first 13 years with the PD. The first time I was at a bad collision and was interviewed by the local news I was very excited. Then I watched the news that evening and sounded just like J. Rodney Turner.. I vowed from that point on to avoid the TV media. I'm a little torn about getting the 2nd book in the series.. I want to give him another shot but..

Not sure what the disconnect was but I didn't even make it halfway before deleting it. Maybe it was the fact Winslow tried too hard to sound like tough cops.. What didn't get on my nerves, bored me

Historia
On his last combat deployment, Lt. Cmdr. James Reece's entire team was killed in an ambush that also claimed the lives of the aircrew sent in to rescue them. But when those dearest to him are murdered on the day of his homecoming, Reece discovers that this was not an act of war by a foreign enemy but a conspiracy that runs to the highest levels of government. Now, with no family and free from the military's command structure, Reece applies the lessons that he's learned in over a decade of constant warfare toward revenge.

Historia
More than two centuries after World War III poisoned the planet, the final bastion of humanity lives on massive airships circling the globe in search of a habitable area to call home. Aging and outdated, most of the ships plummeted back to Earth long ago. The only thing keeping the two surviving lifeboats in the sky are Hell Divers - men and women who risk their lives by skydiving to the surface to scavenge for parts the ships desperately need.

A little anticlimactic after such a long story
Revisado: 04-22-18
It was a good story otherwise I wouldn’t of lasted the 28 hours or whatever. It seems more of a trip down memory lane than solving a murder mystery. Once the mystery was solved and all the people were gathered at the end of the story is kind of fell flat.

Required reading for High School history
Revisado: 07-17-16
Would you consider the audio edition of Matterhorn to be better than the print version?
Matterhorn is one of the most powerful and moving novels about Vietnam combat period. It should be required reading for High School history class. It shows war's ugly side, it's heroic side, racial tension in the 60's, not all leaders were leaders and some were naturals. It will also remind you how young the average Marine was in war and what it means to "man up".

Descent murder stories
Revisado: 05-17-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Women's Murder Club Box Set, Volume 2 to be better than the print version?
The series hold your interest but she does seem to enjoy the court room a little too much.
What does Carolyn McCormick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Audible books gives me a chance to "read" books I wouldn't normally buy to read. This series was one of those. It sounded like descent story lines but not one I would have purchased myself as a reader.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, I enjoy listening to the books while on my bicycle or driving across town in heavy traffic.
