Historia
On their 50th anniversary comes a groundbreaking rock-and-roll memoir by one of the founding members of the Grateful Dead. The Grateful Dead are perhaps the most legendary American rock band of all time. For 30 years, beginning in the hippie scene of San Francisco in 1965, they were a musical institution, the original jam band that broke new ground in so many ways.

Not well written
Revisado: 09-03-20
For people who don’t recognize really good writing or solid narrative structure, this book will be just fine. For those who are deadheads or at least big fans, it will be just fine. Yes, the information in the book is great and interesting. Yes, Bill Kreutzmann is one of the coolest guys in the world. The problem is apparently Bill actually did the writing I’m assuming. Usually celebrities use a biographer or at least a good editor. There are many issues with editing, storytelling. It is basically an endless stream of micro anecdotes. The anecdotes are very streamlined, which might be effective for gathering the information, but on the other hand it doesn’t build up for a good narrative. Also, there is a hint of arrogance and Narcissism That doesn’t always sit well. Again not sure if it’s Bill or Someone else who actually did the writing.

Historia
Few novels have had as profound an impact on American culture as On the Road. Pulsating with the rhythms of 1950s underground America, jazz, sex, illicit drugs, and the mystery and promise of the open road, Kerouac’s classic novel of freedom and longing defined what it meant to be “beat” and has inspired generations of writers, musicians, artists, poets, and seekers who cite their discovery of the book as the event that “set them free”.

Will Patton is wonderful

He is so good that he actually even upstages Carol wack in this work. It is pretty cool. As much as you would want out of a an audio version of this famous novella.

Historia
For years, America's national parks have provided public breathing spaces in a world in which such spaces are steadily disappearing, which is why close to 300 million people visit the parks each year. Now, to honor the centennial of the National Park Service, Terry Tempest Williams, the author of the beloved memoir When Women Were Birds, returns with The Hour of Land, a literary celebration of our national parks, what they mean to us, and what we mean to them.

This work is truly an enterprise of self indulgence. Don’t get me wrong. I actually have a lot of respect for the author. I appreciated her contributions to Ken Burns documentary. I very much appreciate her politics and love for the natural beauty of the parks. But, overall the peace is hard to listen to because she apparently insisted on narrating it herself. Her voice is deep and interesting but her overall mood is so heavy and serious. It is heavy and serious in sections where perhaps it should be a little wider. It seems to me that she takes her self very seriously if not crossing the line into self righteousness. I feel pressured to care about her family and her relationship with her father as much as she does. I felt like some of the details and idiosyncrasies actually disrupted the narrative. I’m sure others Disagree with this. But, overall the work was difficult for me to get through. In fact I haven’t even finished. About three hours to go.

Historia
In 1872 Congress established Yellowstone National Park, and its vast wonders mesmerized early sightseers, including school superintendent William Wallace Wylie. From 1896 to 1905 his Wylie Camping Company fed, sheltered, and guided thousands of Victorian vacationers through relaxed week-long tours. Wylie promised travelers comfort and delicious meals. His clients enjoyed heated sleeping tents, informative outings, and fresh-air bonfires.

It reads like a university research paper. Stories disjointed. Has potential. Mainly just lack of knowledge and skill with regards to writing.

Historia
The real stories behind the scenery of America’s national parks. For 12 years, Andrea Lankford lived in the biggest, most impressive national parks in the world, working a job she loved. She chaperoned baby sea turtles on their journey to sea. She pursued bad guys on her galloping patrol horse. She jumped into rescue helicopters bound for the heart of the Grand Canyon. She won arguments with bears. She slept with a few too many rattlesnakes. Hell yeah, it was the best job in the world! Fortunately, Andrea survived it.

great info. quality of writing is inconsistent.
Revisado: 03-26-18
lots of amateur mistakes. needed a good editor. perpetuates, if not normalizes, the use of the vulgar term "split tail" by using it repeatedly. a sad thing if you're female. narrator had continuously overly enuncited, pressured, and theatrical inflection that called attention to herself while detracting from the writing. stories were great, had much potential, if better handled with the writing.
