Love wins
Revisado: 02-18-25
The story was compelling, with a wide variety of characters to invest in. I did not care for the voice used for Gray. There was no need for him to be from the south, thus a regular dialect would have been much better.

Tender story of resilience
Revisado: 02-15-25
The characters came to life as I listened to the stories of Emily and her granddaughter, Audrey. And the descriptions of the scenery could be imagined in vivid color. A most enjoyable listen.

Historia
In my perfect world I would be selling gourmet donuts, creating art that people loved, be married to my high school sweetheart, live in an adorable dream house. I had big plans for my life once, but nothing was turning out like I thought it would. One day I looked in the mirror and the strong, creative girl of my childhood wasn’t smiling back at me anymore. My aunt must’ve known something that I didn’t, because when she left me her cottage on Sweetwater Island, a tiny spark lit inside me. Could this be a second chance at the life I always dreamed of?

Syrupy sweet
Revisado: 01-15-25
The narrator was good. The story so sweet I think I have diabetes now. This should be labeled Christian evangelical. I’m surprised the author allowed the characters to drink liquor! And Virginia, what a manipulator. No only is that unhealthy but it never works.

Historia
Young playwright Melina Green has just written a new work inspired by the life of her Elizabethan ancestor Emilia Bassano. But seeing it performed is unlikely, in a theater world where the playing field isn’t level for women. As Melina wonders if she dares risk failure again, her best friend takes the decision out of her hands and submits the play to a festival under a male pseudonym.

Outstanding

I am not a student of literature so this novel was read by fresh, naive eyes. I was pulled in almost immediately and was open to Amelia’s life stories. How wonderful that Melina brought her ancestors story to life.

I am not an abstainer but the focus on so many characters drinking to oblivion did not add to the story line. Thatcher is screwed up and needs some serious therapy before they get back together. It was tedious and disappointing to get to the end. Dr Don was about the only genuine, good guy.

Captivating

I loved the development of the characters. The story line kept me intrigued as to what was going to happen next. The author did an excellent job in spite of being trapped at home with kids during Covid.

Enchanting

The characters are well developed and the story intense. My only negative comment is that at times the long litany of details was too much, and I thought unnecessary.
