Historia
Cobb wanted a simple life. He wanted excellent steaks, great coffee, friends, and a quiet place to restore his favorite ship. Working for a recovery operation turned out to be the best place to find parts cheap. She had other plans for him. He wanted the staff of the deep space salvage ship, Oxcart, to treat him just like another member of the crew. Not the man he really was. Light years from Earth, he thought his secrets, his past, wouldn't matter. Especially not to her.

Martin Wilsey never disappoints. His stories are suspenseful and exciting, and Shadows lives up to that standard. Highly recommend!
Audio note: both narrators did an amazing job, pleasant voices and wonderful acting.

If I hashtag HBO, do you think they’ll see this?
Mr. Wilsey writes excellent sci-fi books, but here’s a shocking twist! He’s been keeping his talent for Epic Fantasy/swords and sorcery from us! As a writer of many talents, I cannot wait for the next installment of Thorne. He’s the badass we didn’t know we needed.

What a fun book! It was fast-paced and kept me guessing (wrong, of course) at what was going to happen next. I was pleasantly surprised. Well done!

Revisado: 07-30-20
Before listening to this series, I have read only one other sci-fi fantasy series (that was way more on the fantasy side) in my life. Sci-Fi has never held any attraction for me. I’m even anti-Star Wars. That being said, let’s begin my review!
I took a chance with this series and I’m very glad I did. Wilsey’s world building and character development is flawless skill of his. In the mass of characters, I had favorites ones, relatable ones, as well as some I’d curl my lip to. Having never read a true sci-fi book, I was worried this series would be over my head, but Wilsey is a patient writer and takes the time to explain, in detail, all the advanced technologies and other worlds. It was brilliant.
The twists and turns kept me guessing, and at one point, I even sent a message to the author, taking a stab in the dark at who the antagonist was because I was dying to know if I had guessed right. To my dismay, he wouldn’t tell me, but I had fun discovering it on my own. I was right *sniffs and brushes shoulder*, but only a little right. The series plot was MUCH grander and way more intricate than I had originally thought it was, which was pleasantly surprising.

Uniquely monstrous
Revisado: 02-20-20
Story: 4 stars
Narrator: 4 stars
Writing style: 5 stars
The story brought to life a charming era. It was captivatingly simple, if there is such a thing, and each character had their own unique voice, some charmingly monstrous, and others disgustingly manipulative. I will say that I consider this to have some trigger. It did for me, at least. Triggers I wasn’t aware I had. However, it’s intended to feel slimy and creepy and overall a wrong feeling. In that sense, the author was spot on. As for the historical aspects, I am not sure. To me, they seemed solid and believable, but I am not familiar with the era or Ripper.
The narrator was lovely. Her voice was pleasant and her acting was talented. There was this airy background that I wasn’t fond of and occasionally found it distracting, but otherwise, I’d consider her a solid performance.
The writing style was beautifully. Perfect touches to the descriptions and a liquid flow of one sentence to the next.

Historia
Have you ever learned a secret about yourself that could change your life forever? When a mysterious and handsome boy showed up at my high school, all the girls wanted his attention. But who did he approach? Plain, less-than-ordinary me! Words like changeling and dreamseer made my head spin as Declan, who claims to be my protector, tried to convince me that I’m actually a creature from the faerie realm, switched at birth with a human infant who is the true child of my parents. Should I follow Declan's lead to discover the truth? How can I not?

For twilight fans

Narrator: 5 stars
Story: 4 stars
Writing 5 stars
The narrator was lovely. Clear and smooth voice. Perfect for this target audience. The writing was great! Molly knows how to write very well. The story was alright. It reminds me of twilight. I only had a few issues with it. Why did the male MC wait for an entire school day to pass before he took her home? One school day lasted half the book. Also, the male MC’s personality was not consistent. I recommend this book for young teens, and twilight fans.

Pace issue but good story
Revisado: 01-24-20
Narrator: 3 stars
Story: 5 stars
Writing: 5 stars
The narrator had a hard time keeping an even pace. Most of the time, it felt deliberate, as if she thought slowing things down or speeding them up would bring out certain parts. I grew quickly frustrated with it. She did well with accents and emotions and character personalities though. Just needs to work on that pace issue and remembering accents (aside from dialogue, everything was in American accent but she seemed to forget that at times.) The story was fun! It swapped characters often, but I never felt lost. I almost wish it was longer. Every character was vastly different from one another. The writing was excellent. I saw no flaws here as everything flowed seamlessly from one sentence to the next.

Great Narrator, developing writer
Revisado: 01-23-20
Audio Narrator: 5 stars
Book plot: 5 stars
Writing: 3 stars
This was an interesting, fast-paced shorter book. I loved how well the author tied in biblical occurrences and twisted them for fantasy purposes. This is book two in the series, and having not listened to the first, I never once felt lost.
The characters were likable - the narrator really brought them to life. He’s truly talented and I look forward to finding more books he narrates. He has one of those voices I could listen to for hours on end.
The story plotting was great, but the writing style fell short. It wasn’t developed.
Who would I recommend this to? Those who love the TV show Lucifer or any other supernatural mystery thriller.

A wonderful fantasy story
Revisado: 01-03-20
An audiobook review:
Oh, what a wonderful book. A wonderful story. Such fantastic characters.
Ms. Black weaves a great tale, one with both humans and mystical creatures of legends. Her skills in taking an insignificant human and making her the most dangerous of them all is spectacular.
The story begins a little slow, but every little morsel dipped into each chapter is important. It's impressive story-telling!
As for the narrator: she was fantastic as well. Soft-voiced, pleasant, but could also act the other parts, including the male voices, with ease.
Looking forward to diving into more of Holly Black's published books.
