Historia
Dr. Sam Anderson is one of the most celebrated scientists in history. Ten years ago, he invented a device that changed the world forever. Now his life is about to be ripped apart—and his own creation may be to blame. One fateful morning, Sam discovers that his girlfriend has been murdered and that his daughter is accused of the crime. Sam believes she's innocent, but he can't prove it. There's only one thing he can do to save his daughter: confess to the crime. And so he does. But in the future, murderers aren't sent to prison. They're sent to the past.

Mixed Feelings
Revisado: 02-17-24
I struggled through this book. I was interested in the story line (which is why I stuck with it)…but it was a bit painful to listen to. There was zero depth to these characters. An excessive amount of “Sam said…” or “Sam thought,” or “Sam believed.” Too much narration of what characters were doing and not enough internal dialogue to help us understand the motivations of the characters. It made for one dimensional characters with a lot of unrealistic dialogue.
This was the second book I have read from this author. The first was The Extinction Trials. I remember feeling the same way about that book as well, so I didn’t continue reading the series. I now realize this is the authors writing style. It seems he has great ideas, but lacks the depth that I’m looking for in a book.
I also found the narrator very dull.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Amaze. Good. Good. Good.
Revisado: 08-15-23
I loved The Martian and kept getting this book as a recommendation, so I finally gave it a try. I loved it. It’s one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. And the narration was “amaze” too, I love the inflection and wit Ray Porter puts in his narration.
I’m now looking forward to reading another one of Andy Weir’s books.
If you are a Syfy fan…read this book now. Don’t wait.

Historia
Serenity Winters is taking the summer off. After her last year included crushing on the wrong guy (again), having her best friend move all the way across the country, and an unexpected loss she's still not prepared to deal with, she deserves it. And a visit to see Maia in California seems the perfect getaway. Beaches, bonfires, and boys? Yes please!

I was totally Drawn into this story.
Revisado: 09-20-22
This is my first book review, ever, so pardon my “newness” to the process if I make any rookie mistakes.
I am a big fan of time travel stories, and I have read my fair share of them. I’m very interested in how each author interprets the concept of time travel and how they apply the “rules”. Frequently, authors follow similar paths as to how time travel works, which can feel a little like “ok, sure, this again.” This, however, did not happen in Drawn In. It was a very unique and unexpected approach to time travel that I was very surprised by.
The main character felt very familiar to me as I share many of her nerdy passions such as Sci-fi, the love of theater, shows like Doctor Who and books like The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (which funny enough, was the last book I read before this one).
I reside in Missouri, as does the author, and her writing style felt familiar with a mid-west charm, even though it is set in California.
I’m not usually a fan of stories that have a fairy-tale feel, but this was different enough to keep me speeding through the chapters.
There were a few attributes I was not completely in awe with. The first was that there were multiple characters introduced who all have the ability to travel - which I felt was a little forced or highly coincidental (all three characters that can do something remarkable that just so happen to be in the same town where Reni just happened to be visiting.)
I was also a little disappointed as to how fast the story ended. A huge cliffhanger with so many unanswered questions. So I’m ready to jump into the next book in the series.
I would highly recommend this book and look forward to Sioux Trett”s next book.

Historia
Kiernan Dunne abandoned his family ties to help Kate fight the Cyrists, and he's never regretted that for one moment. But he doesn't understand why Kate can't remember that night in 1893 Chicago, when she turned back to face the killer chasing them through the smoky corridors of the World's Fair Hotel. Kate placed the CHRONOS key around his neck and made his eight-year-old self promise to wear it always, and that's a promise Kiernan has never broken.

My first time to review a book…loved it!
Revisado: 05-02-22
I enjoy time travel books and have read several…but so far, this is one of my favorites. I was literally hooked from the first chapter - and am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
I really enjoy the narrator, she read with such passion and really brought the characters to life.
If you like time travel stories, this is definitely want to read.
