Hoping to learn something from his proud, troubled heritage, Starr looks for guidance in the lives of his ancestors: all-Americans who weren't always right. From a framer of the Constitution to a slave owner, from a Supreme Court justice to a courageous suffragist, each recalls an important legacy that Starr must somehow reconcile with his own perilous dilemma.

Four strangers and six weeks: this is all that separates Mara from one life-changing payday. She was surprised when reality TV producers came knocking at Primal Instinct—the survival school where she teaches rich clients not to die during a night outdoors—and even more shocked to be cast in their new show, Civilization. Now she just has to live off the land with her fellow survivors for long enough to get the prize money.

Story could have been a winner

The premise of the story was entertaining. The side story of the love affair was ridiculous and contrived. It actually took away from the entertainment all of the real story.

Good authors do not necessarily make good readers.
Revisado: 07-27-12
What did you like best about Year of Wonders? What did you like least?
I liked the unexpected twists and turns of the story, it was not predictable. Anna seemed to be a little too lucky.
What did you like best about this story?
The ending was excellent, unexpected with a few interesting twists.I
How could the performance have been better?
Have a different reader, Ms. Brooks was awful!!! Perhaps Beverly Dunn would have been good, or just about anyone with some expression in their voice.
Do you think Year of Wonders needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
I do not think the Year of Wonders needs a follow-up book because it ended so wonderfully.

Another wonderful Walt Longmire.
Revisado: 07-21-12
If you could sum up As the Crow Flies in three words, what would they be?
Adventure, Love, Dignity
What did you like best about this story?
I like the interaction between Walt and his best friend...Cheyenne Nation. Also, I like Walt's appreciation of women w/o getting "sloppy".
Which scene was your favorite?
The most thrilling was in the basement of the Indian Building.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I hate to put down any of his books.
Any additional comments?
It was sad when the book ended, not for them but for me....it will be a while before there is another Walt Longmire book.
The performer, George Guidell, is excellent. He captures Walt Longmire better than anyone I can imagine. His accents are believable and his reading during suspenseful moments adds to the drama.

Too much sex not enough substance!!!
Revisado: 03-16-12
Would you try another book from Stuart Woods and/or Robert Lawrence?
No, the character was so unrealistic...so unbelievable I would hate to waste my time trying another book with the same character.
Has L. A. Dead turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, I love a GOOD mystery. I also like repeat characters, have even come to know and love them. But Stone is not believable...every woman he meets is trying to get him into bed!!!! He is like a very immature teen.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
The reader was alright but lacked depth. He could have read with more excitement in his voice.
Was L. A. Dead worth the listening time?
No. I kept waiting and hoping it would get better. Much to my disappointment it did not.

Predictable but worth reading during the holiday
Revisado: 12-26-11
Would you listen to An Amish Christmas again? Why?
I think this book is a good holiday read, reminding us of what is REALLY important in life.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I would like less predictability, perhaps a twist or two in the story rather than so perfect.
What about Cassandra Campbell’s performance did you like?
The performance was excellent.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
True holiday meaning
