I was hooked from the beginning. And yes, it definitely has some triggers. I was listening to the last hour or so while making dinner and that got a little rough. Still, I’ll be getting book #2 and checking out other stories by this author. You’ll either love it or hate it but you won’t get bored.

Historia
It was supposed to be easy: find the drug maker. Find her, and drag her back to the dragons to deal with. She deserves death for what she's done. For someone like Weston, the best alpha in the world, the one who shuts people up just by walking in the room, it would've been. Until he learns what she is. Finding a fated mate is nearly impossible. Very few are able to do it. But the call of their bond is unmistakable. Against all odds, and in the worst situation imaginable, he's found his true mate. Her.

Pretty easy story to follow.

I liked the character development. I liked the story development. At a high level, it’s a clever commentary on prejudices, social class, and willful ignorance. But it’s wrapped in a clever, spicy, fantasy tale. I bought this and the next volume in the series. Towards the end of this volume the only irritating aspect was the regression of the main female character. I’m not a big fan of Stockholm Syndrome but maybe it’s necessary for Volume 2. I’ll soon see.

Not my usual genre but it hooked me quickly
Revisado: 12-27-24
I generally like stuff with dragons, vampires, and magic. Not sure how I ended up selecting this story but it grabbed me fast. I usually hate “reality” stories because the characters usually do stupid things and it becomes annoying. Surprisingly it didn’t happen here. Maybe there were one or two minor things but overall it was refreshing to see the characters making smart decisions instead of compounding their mistakes. The author really wrote a great romance with some sex but a great development of characters trying to make the best of life and the trials thrown at them. I had this in my ear until I finished it. The hubby didn’t appreciate my dedication to finishing it to the exclusion of all else. lol

Definitely liked the spunk of the heroine. Made it a fresher tale than the average English romance.
Revisado: 12-23-24
I liked it well enough but I rate stories on whether or not I’d buy them or listen to them again. It was good but not great. And I would have added a bit more depth to the epilogue. It left me wondering how the villains of the piece were dealt with. Good listen but not a repeat for me.

I listened to this years ago, abridged, and the story pulled me in so I never forgot it. When the unabridged version was offered on sale, I couldn’t resist. I’ve enjoyed it over days as it’s a long story. But it’s very well written and moves along at a nice pace. The music is a little cheesy in places but ok. I listened at 1.2 speed. While the author is a whack job, he wrote a really great story. It’s about one young man overthrowing the aliens that came and colonized Earth 1000 years from now.

They took Crichton’s novel and made 3 movies from it. I liked the characters of Hammond and Lexi better in the movies but liked the other characters better in the book. Very rich reading. Will likely listen to it again and recommend it.

The caldera walk and the skiff across to the volcano were the only helpful pieces of information imo.
Revisado: 03-15-24
The tour guide from Santorini was hard to understand and repetitive. There was no information regarding how to get around except by walking. Oh, and I think this episode talked about Greek wines. That’s good because our gang is wine drinkers and we didn’t know what to ask the charter to stock for us. But overall, there was maybe 3 minutes of good info in this podcast. Imo.

Better than some of the other ones
Revisado: 03-15-24
This is the 3rd or 4th GTS podcast I’ve listened to in search of information about the Greek Islands. This is really the first one to tell me enough information to make the listening worthwhile. I want solid dos and don’t bothers. I want to know where cool stuff is. This almost approaches that level. Telling someone it’s wonderful because of the views or food or people is too vanilla for me. I am glad she mentions her best memory is sailing as we will be coming by a sailing cat.

One of my favorite books. I have read it and listened to it several times. I own it in hardcover.
Revisado: 03-09-24
This is a fabulous tale that speaks to me. I’d be a Pope Joan if I lived in the 9th century. I’m a modern day Joan in many ways, rising out of poverty through education. But I can see this is not a story for seriously religious people. It wouldn’t fit with their comfortable beliefs. The author’s end notes on her research are as good as the story. Don’t skip them. It will make you think.
